Concerns over the hyperpartisan judge may have been warranted...

thats the worst outcome was that he was going to shut down drive thru on election day but there was no way in hell that he would have thrown out 127k votes that have already been casted.

I'm not that "guy" by any means. Im a peoples person and I'm anti-establishment for anything. I cap out my max campaign contribution every year for real candidates whether they be dems or republicans. I just think its sad that the democratic party has become so elite.

And I'll take the ACA argument to another thread because it could have been saved in the budget reconciliation bill that they just passed a month ago that NANCY AGREED TO IN THE HOUSE. You guys are once again being fooled by the DNC establishment. I say this because I am a healthcare provider and I have patients on Obamacare and i see the pain and suffering that both sides take with healthcare.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/09/22/government-shutdown-pelosi-mnuchin-strike-spending-bill-deal.html

Nancy could have saved Obamacare in the recent spending bill. Do some research. The issue in front of the supreme court is a tax issue that could have been fixed in the spending bill.

He wouldn't need to throw out the 127K votes. He would be doing that indirectly by opening up the ability for the GOP to sue that because Hanan shut down the drive through voting, and claimed it was illegal, therefore the votes are illegal and the 127K should be thrown out after the fact.

But what I hear here is this judge trying to split the baby. I think he's signaling that the federal courts above him will rule in the GOP's favor that voting from a moving object is illegal (which is so bizarre don't even get me started) and trying to save the votes of those Harris county voters who will still show up at the drive in voting site tomorrow.

Never underestimate the ruthlessness and creativity of the GOP to find ANY reason they can to sue and take away votes. Thugocracy is incredibly accurate.

The bigger issue with ACA are the courts trying to rip it apart, if anything Pelosi wasn't looking for bandaid fix.

Time to defend this like a republican.

If they make voting from a car illegal, what’s next? Wheelchairs?

I think he was saying that the GOP needed to establish "evil motive" to determine if it was illegal to make those changes... but then the conversation went down the road of "Moving Object" and it seems as though the Judge found a line of BS he could buy and now is trying to split the baby (allow votes to temporarily still count/shut down polling site for tomorrow). Which of course just give more predicate to appeal and later get those votes invalidated if Texas is close.

Exactly. Honestly I would expect more from an George W. judge. This guy sounds like a Trump judge which who doesn't really care to let everyone know what team he's playing on. I would anticipate that this guy is just like Bill Barr. Probably looks like him too.

So, this would not necessarily be a federal judge overruling the TX Supreme Court, right? (The horror of that, for loyal Texans, I would hope.) But the GOP filed in parallel to state and federal?
