How is any of this “progressive”?

I am sure that the Rs will find an adjective/noun to describe any and all things the Ds get passed legislatively, like liberal, socialism, or even progressive. The Rs labeling is just marketing and dogma.

Anything supported by the majority of Americans is definitionally moderate and mainstream.

The “conflict” among the Ds is part of the Rs political narrative ... something something about how the Ds can not govern and can not be trusted. If the Ds pass a bunch of majority supported, moderate legislation, the Rs narrative will become harder to sell.

What is progressive? I don't quite know what it is for others. For me, it's any advancement toward well-being of people, equal opportunity, more freedom, less restriction, stronger balance between economic growth and health and environment. I'm sure I left out a few more. It does not depend on how many people support it. M4A is probably progressive in your book. > 60% support it. > 50% support it even if it eliminates ALL private insurance. If M4A is progressive in your book, then we can see that it's also supported by the majority of American (moderate and mainstreams in your definition). So then isn't progressive policy also policy that can be moderate and mainstream?

But they will sell it. Here are their 10 greatest hits for Obama

Nothing burgers, one and all. How many of these Obama scandals lead to criminal records and jail time?

Personally I do not like the term. I would prefer "majority supported", which the Ds could leverage into showing how they are getting things done in DC.

The Rs are going to hate on everything little thing that the Ds do. Just how it is. There is absolutely no doubt that the Rs are contingency planning against a big loss. They will not vote for a single D bill. They will label everything the Ds do as extremist. They make it dogma that the Ds hampered the Rs' CV-19 response plans and then the Ds made it a royal cluster **** after winning full control of WH and Congress. The Rs screwups will become the Ds screwups, because of ... reasons. The Rs have successfully done this in the past, so that will be their game plan.

That's very likely. I think it would be smart for a Biden Admin to go after the majority supported policies in the first 2 years. It will still likely be deemed socialist and the end of the US. But I doubt the American public would buy it so easily if they stick to more popular policies. With the massive spending and debt the GOP have created in the past 4 years combined with complete lack of morals and norms, they have no credibility left. I also think the "country over party" conservative bloc isn't going to go back to the GOP easily, no matter what progressive policies are enacted. The danger is still there with a 2024 and future election. They are going to want to get rid of every single members of the GOP party that were coward and there is a lot of them.

if they are smart they will tread a middle course and the let trumpublican party destroy itself over the next few years.

that being said, the majority of the country believes roe vs. wade should not be overturned, weed should be legal, obama-care should be left in place, gays should be able to get married to name a few...these are not even "progressive" positions to take anymore. its where the majority of the country is.

biden should have pulled a james k polk and stated from the beginning that he was only going to serve one term and that his goal is to right the ship, undo the damage that trump has done, restore our international standing and return to american values and basic human decency. that would open the door for the next generation to prepare for 2022 and beyond.

its time for the boomer generation to go away and let generation X take over. i hope biden represents the end of their time.
