Does this mean McMillan will play the role of established assistant, defensive guru or both?

Nate McMillan is a SOLID assistant coach, I love it. So we get Silas a offensive guru and Nate a old school defensive minded coach with HC experience. Very good pick

Lol. MDA has never been known for defense. Turner did a fantastic job running the defense, especially with no rim protector the whole playoffs

Elston Turner wasn’t in charge of the Rockets defense in the playoffs, idiot.... MDA and another assistant largely handled the defense after Elston Turner flamed out early in the year... now go back to bagging groceries

Don't care for J-horny but Nate would be an incredible pickup.

I don’t want Jeff Hornacek in Houston at all.
No Utah Jazz men needed!! I can live with Nate, but I do want to see our guys playing better on help defense, and to continue switch defense while improving on one to one defense plus rebounding.

Turner started out running a hybrid defense that the players just didn’t understand or execute well. They then went to a more switch everything defense at the suggestion of MDA and Brett Gunning.

The Rockets best assistant coach last year was Brett Gunning, who I really hope is back.

Maybe he wasn’t in the right situation. He would be assistant in HOU... he might become a great assistant

And our defense was absolutely elite for long stretches to end the year.

Switching everything was also a massive reason for our success in 2018.

The defense is fine. The 17th ranked offense needs to improve.

Im just not sure how much it can improve with a guy like Westbrook. He kills your offense unless he is the one with the ball. I will never understand why anyone in the org that it was a good fit. We could have 3 great 3pt shooters on the floor with JH and Russ and Westbrook would still hamper the offense.

So we're arguing against raw defensive metrics now?,Having the best defense requires more than sitting. I guess there really are different levels of delusional

The fact that you think MDA ran the defense is hilarious. Do you know anything about his horrible defensive history? That, my friend, was 110% Elston Turner. Turner, when you were in diapers or most likely not born, was renowned throughout the NBA as a defensive stopper. He brought that style back to the Rockets. He is the ONLY person on this awful staff that should be re-hired in addition to Lucas.

When exactly did Turner get demoted? Because everybody credited Elson Turner for the defense given he's the defensive coach. Now do you have sources or do these sources only exist in your tiny little brain?

We had the best defense due to MDA & Gunning not Turner. The defense was fairly mediocre before they switched back to the switch everything defense
