Thinking JVG is in the lead, because if it was Silas they wouldn’t be going through all this getting along stuff and taking so long. Silas would sign in a heartbeat for whatever is offered. JVG is going to take complex negotiations to get out of ESPN contract. He’s also talking to potential assistant coaches. Barring any setbacks, he will likely be the choice.

JVG is not dumb. He'll get good assistants around him to make a good offense.

If Tilllllman hires JVG and doesn't use picks to dump salary this season, I may start to reconsider calling him totally cheap

    I said reconsider.

TF can be cheap and instead of paying for 1 HC, pay for 2 assistants in JVG and Silas.

JVG will cost him in the 10-12 mill range.

    Silas 3 mill.

    JVG won't get more than 3- 4 + incentives.

No luxury tax because of a coach's salary! You were joking, but point taken. Fertitta has proven himself to be cheap. How? Talk is cheap!

For those that want JVG over Silas, why!? A return to the glory days of 89-83 win basketball that we couldn't wait to get rid of? Because he now lives in Houston? Because he has the savvy to handle egos? Please, why?

Well, Silas likely wouldn’t be released by Dallas to take a an assistant job, and JVG likely wouldn’t take an assistant job either, so outside of Tillys cheapness, getting both isn’t likely possible.

He was willing to leave to coach the Rockets a month ago until Morey couldn’t take seeing Tilman every day.

The best bet if JVG takes the job is to offer Finch the Associate Head Coach job... at the end of the day JVG has proven to be an all time great at identifying great coaches and building a very good staff so whoever he picks will do well.
