Yeah, the GOP (and this obviously biased, partisan "judge") aren't even trying anymore. They can't even pretend to try on a shamockery anymore, and I predict they'll pay for it at the polls. But we'll see.

You get nothing. The nation isn't "center right." The Supreme Court as it is now doesn't reflect the majority of this country. Barrett is far out of the mainstream of the United States, as is Justice Alito, as is Justice Thomas, as is Justice Kavanaugh. With the death of Justice Ginsberg, if Judge Barrett is confirmed during this current presidential election, while the American people are voting, something that hasn't come close to happening in the history of this country, we will have a Supreme Court that doesn't remotely reflect the majority of the people of this country.

A poll in September of this year by NBC News showed that 66% of Americans supported Roe v Wade, including 50% of Republicans. According to Forbes in February of this year, 55% of Americans support the ACA. According to Gallup in 2018, 35% of Americans described themselves as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 26% as liberal. The nation is not "center right." That is a fantasy you and those like you entertain and attempt to impose on the nearly two thirds of Americans that do not view themselves as conservative.

Apparently, you like the "sound" of your own voice. It certainly doesn't reflect reality.

Has anyone deeply read what the F Society's goals are?

Tearing down institutions like the EPA to only an explicit word for word authority essentially rolls back governance and regulation for Koch Bois to pollute more. The other ripples will be immense especially if filibuster is not rolled back and Republicans disrupt day to day function by dicking around like they did the last years of Obama.

Lot at stake and ofc ACB will dance and lie for it.

Not saying she is being dishonest but come on rushing judges leads to this. Not a good sign.

Ms Barrett, the woman being shoved through the confirmation process during a presidential election for the first time in the history of the United States, by Republican Senators Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham, kept some important information from the Senate during her hearing.

    From Associated Press:

Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett served for nearly three years on the board of private Christian schools that effectively barred admission to children of same-sex parents and made it plain that openly gay and lesbian teachers weren’t welcome in the classroom.

The policies that discriminated against LGBTQ people and their children were in place for years at Trinity Schools Inc., both before Barrett joined the board in 2015 and during the time she served.

The three schools, in Indiana, Minnesota and Virginia, are affiliated with People of Praise, an insular community rooted in its own interpretation of the Bible, of which Barrett and her husband have been longtime members. At least three of the couple’s seven children have attended the Trinity School at Greenlawn, in South Bend, Indiana.

The AP spoke with more than two dozen people who attended or worked at Trinity Schools, or former members of People of Praise. They said the community’s teachings have been consistent for decades: Homosexuality is an abomination against God, sex should occur only within marriage and marriage should only be between a man and a woman.

Interviewees told the AP that Trinity’s leadership communicated anti-LGBTQ policies and positions in meetings, one-on-one conversations, enrollment agreements, employment agreements, handbooks and written policies — including those in place when Barrett was an active member of the board. Trinity Schools Inc. is a tax-exempt non-profit organization that receives some financial support from government-funded tuition voucher programs, according to its federal tax returns.

Murkowski's pro life creds are now in open question. That is unless she supports a Barrett vote, where she will vote to not confirm.

All the Republicans in the Senate are falling into line, like dominoes. They are doing something that has never been done before in our long history, pushing through a Supreme Court confirmation right in the middle of a presidential election, with well over 50 million votes having already been cast. Doing it after denying even a hearing for President Obama's last nominee to the Supreme Court, deeply experienced 63 year old Merrick Garland, Chief Justice of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. A distinguished jurist widely respected by members of both parties. Nominated 11 months before a new president would be sworn in.

Compare Judge Garland's experience with the absurdly brief experience of 48 year old Judge Barrett, a judge for less than 3 years, who refused to answer questions during her hearing, keeping important information hidden that only came out after her hearing ended. There is no reasonable comparison between the two. There will be consequences because of this, in my opinion. This will not be forgotten.

I don’t know if there is anything - short of ACB being implicated in some kind of major felony - that the Democrats can do to stop her appointment. A reactionary-majority court is a goal that Republicans have had since the days of Earl Warren, and they aren’t about to hit the brakes so close to the finish line. It’s their only solution for staying in power while facing a dwindling base.

I don’t necessarily oppose adding seats to the Supreme Court, but I do think a better short-term strategy would be for Biden and the Democrats to govern/legislate in such a way that maximizes their chances for a sweeping victory in the 2022 elections when more GOP Senate seats are in play. Typically, the President’s party loses seats, but if the Democrats can find a way to reach 60 Senators, they can look into investigating and impeaching some of the worst of Trump and McConnell’s judicial appointments. That majority will also allow them to pass legislation to limit the damage that has and will be done by reactionary activism.

All that being said, the aftertaste of Trump won’t last forever, and if the Democrats can only manage simple majorities, then court packing has to be considered.

ACB could be a pedophile grandmaster of the KKK who kills kittens and the GOP would put her through. There isn't much the democrats can do.

Dems will pack the courts once they win. That is the only option now. Republicans did this.

You could also not pack the courts. Just a thought.
