JVG would never take the OKC job and OKC would never want John Lucas. Only Silas is a potential hire for both teams. I think we see these jobs fill up sooner than later. OKC needs to get it done because of the draft.
Apparently the 22 nd of December the season will start and we still have no coach? Common Tillman sign van Gundy. Training camp is probably like 4 weeks away we need a plan
Atkinson is still out there. JVG head coach Atkinson Lead assistant Lucas player development coach/assistant
https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/20...cks-rockets-can-take-time-with-coaching-hire/ I'm sure this has already been posted but I saw that "Morey in advisory role until Nov. 1st" part towards the end. We aren't getting a new coach until he's out-out.
Reasoning sounds like BS to me. Unless Stone is struggling during the GM transition. Hope the guy has not been overwhelmed already.
I am guessing they decided to wait until after the memorial service this afternoon to finish this process whatever is going on.
We can only hope the reason is only Tilly's cheapness and not also because Stone not ready. Look how far the Rockets have fallen in 2 months, the bar is through the floor now.
I don’t know. I was told Tilman wanted a coach named sooner than later. Than was 3+ days ago and there still isn’t a head coach.
Stone’s specialty is contract negotiations and hiring a coach should be easier than a complicated trade or free agent signing. The issue a week ago was some of the candidates wanted certain assurances from the organization concerning staff and control of roster. Couple that with multiple candidates negotiating.
I didn’t say I liked it lol just got a spidey sense tingle when I read that. I am preparing for another month of “who is the coach?” just to temper my own expectations.
i would be legitimately shocked if a coach wasn’t named by end of day Wednesday. I’m not sure if the team would announce a hire on a weekend so the clock starts again Monday.
If JVG had his thinking cap on he would and should go to OKC. A bunch of selfless guys that defend hard and have a combo of young talent to get the job done. IMO, in a fair officiating league, they are second only to Miami.
OKC is a JVG-type team. I'm not sure how much JVG would want to live there, though. As for the Rockets' search, I'm thinking there's probably a salary/staff discussion? No idea.
Yeah front offices take weekends off at this part of the offseason. So Monday-Friday this week. More likely Monday to Thursday
The reason JVG has not been hired yet is that Tillman requires JVG to sign an oath in blood. never try to make any deal that puts the Rockets into the Luxury tax. JVG told him he faints at the sight of blood. especially his own. So someone needs to get him drunk, after he passes out, run and get the blood.
