the longer he takes , does that mean that hes negotiating with JVG or silas? if he really wanted Lucas, wouldn't that be the hire already? if morey is assisting, there is no way they are hiring Lucas
He’s probably offering relatively bad terms to all three candidates and waiting for the first sucker to bite. He did it with MDA last summer and even used the media to shame him. He doesn’t realize that this isn’t the same as hiring a new hostess at Rainforest Cafe.
that could be true, also very surprising there is no updates from Houston media? Jonathan Feigen? Berman? why the lack of updates
They aren’t going to post anything unless someone tells them to, especially with Feigen. Woj was pretty clear when he last spoke. JVG and the team can’t seem to find terms yet. Silas is a prominent candidate. Lucas is on the team already.
The sad reality is that it doesn't matter who the coach ends up being. The fact that it's taking so long shows the following... A) No good coach wants to come here B) Tilman is not willing to pay to bring a good coach here C) Both A and B Frankly...cannot blame them
sounded like Woj was saying JVG ability to adapt to the front office , has enable them to keep working to find common ground.
What about undrafted FA? This is a lousy reason not to hire HC + assistants to install system or any tweaks to system. And hiring coach also allows FO some guidance on trade targets and/or FA (MLE and vet min).
It’s going to be a while watch. He wants the candidates to drop out so he has no choice to choose Lucas. That way he can blame them for leaving Lucas as the lonely person who wanted the job.
That is probably spot on for veteran coaches, but for someone who has been a assistant for a while looking to break in, that kind of person would not only be cheaper than a vet coach, but willing to take on a wider variety of situations in order to land them a head coaching post. For them, its about breaking through.
Just name Harden the coach and be done with it. The coach will just be a middle man. Do we really need a middle man? Save money and eliminate the middle man.
my guess is that Lucas has already accepted the job and has agreed to delay the announcement in order for Tilman to save money. Each day there is no coach is a day Tilman doesn’t have to pay. players wanted it. Stone wanted it. Tilman damn sure wanted it. no draft picks, no radical changes to game plan, no rush to announce. Plus Lucas still has access to the players since he’s still on staff as player dev. They can communicate now if they wanted.
Maybe the choice of coach is contingent on whether they're thinking of rebuilding or adding talent to become a contender
