I get text about every other day from both parties. I’m in Houston. Didn’t get texts in the last 100 elections.

Have to agree as someone who supported and likes Beto. Giving money to his campaign and putting myself on that list will forever keep my phone blown up. In the future the DNC needs to rope in their mailing lists with all of these groups and be more strategic. I don’t mind a text or email every once in awhile but you run the risk of annoyance. Anyone in sales knows that fine line of bringing value and consultative selling vs being a pest and diminishing your goodwill.

Beto made a bad move in selling off our info, but it’s really the responsibility of those at the top to know how all these groups are reaching out to voters and understand how to corral them together to have a more effective reach out strategy.

I get emails from Republicans and SMS messages from Democrats. Email is annoying, but at there's a way to unsubscribe without too much fuss, but SMS spam it's like trying to get rid of Hepatitis C. I keep this url on my phone for the pesky ones.

A pox on all their houses for this.

I get at LEAST 5-6 unsolicited political text messages a day. My only solace....one of the text messages made me research a ballot initiative in my state I was uninformed on. I ended up voting against what the texter was advocating for. Responded and told them the same and thanked them for prompting me to research something I might not have otherwise known about.

Very satisfying to hit send on that text.

What’s the point of rolling this guy out? He has zero chance of winning after the declaration of taking AR-15s away. Why can’t the dems find a solid blue dog Democrat that moderate conservatives would vote for?

I don't get why anyone but military should carry AR-15's to begin with. Mass killing machines.

So when they rebel, the drones can shoot them down first?

    Democrats can't get anything right.

Republicans across the country have given them infinite ammo, and they can't use it.

Name a potential "blue dog democrat" in Texas? Heck, any Democrat candidate? Someone with some degree of experience and state-wide name recognition. So likely a mayor of a major city, or a congressman. Heck, even go with an entertainer or well-know business man (eg the year the guy that began Chi ran). Best possible chances might be someone like Ron Kirk (he was crused by cornyn), one of the Castro brothers (but they won't run) or Lina Hidalgo (but I am sure she will be demonized for something).

Unfortunately, Texans won't vote for a Democrat. Doesn't matter who the Democrats run. people here will always point out the "pointy elbows" of whatever candidate that runs (eg Beto taking away assault rifles, Davis's running shoes). Meanwhile, Texans re-elect a governor that botched the power grid, a attorney general being investigated for felonies, etc...

His comments on assault rifles aren’t the only reason Beto sucks. He’s just a creepy dude.

Anyways, I’ve been getting about 5 campaign texts a day from conservative candidates. I have no ****ing clue how I got on these lists.

Unfortuantely Beto made his brand toxic but it's a sad state that there isn't a more electable candidate to face Abbott.

While you can't gerrymander a state it does show they problem when a district is considered so safe the other side can only offer token opposition. The party in power either starts pandering to the worst part of their base and / or the most venal candidates who are only out for power.

It's been a while since I lived in Texas, so I don't remember.... but do you have to register as a Republican, Democrat or Independent?

I'm registered as a Republican in Florida, so I get hit with their mailings during campaign season. I assume they cull my phone number using that info and send me texts as well
