Just seemed odd that you already want Luhnow back when Click hasn't had much of a chance to do anything. His previous team is in the World Series and he helped the Astros maneuver to get within 1 game of the World Series. I'm looking forward to see what he can do.
Wouldn't you rather have a guy that you know what he can do, rather than not knowing and looking forward to seeing what he can do?
Especially since it appears he may be about to burn this organization into the ground in an interview tomorrow.
He's in a legal dispute with Crane over the remainder of his contract. If Crane didn't want this he should have paid him off like he did with Hinch.
I would make a qualifying offer to both Springer and Brantley. At least we will get a draft pick for Springer. In Brantley case, who would be willing to lose draft pick and sign him to a 2-3 years contract. I think astros can get a deal done with Brantley if Springer turn down say 5yrs/130M offer. Offer Brantley 3yrs/50-55M and let’s focus on extending Correa. Also, I doubt Astros will sign any TOR pitcher this offseason. When was the last time we sign a FA TOR pitcher? We can’t outbid Yanks, Bos, and LAD for those type of guys. We have to look for CFM or Wade Miley type pitcher to help eat some innings. And as much as I loved what the young pitchers did this year, it’s unknown how they will perform when the fans are back in the stadium. Especially on the road. That’s why getting another bullpen or 2 will be important. Is Kendrick a FA this year?
I don’t think trading Correa is dumb if he refuse to get a deal done this offseason. His trade value will never be any higher than right now. Saying that, this is the first time in 2 years that I wanted Correa to finish his career in only Astros uniforms.
The Astros are interested in Jurickson Profar as a free agent. They think his bat is improving and believe he can play the outfield at a high level and centerfield. Odd I know... and I know he apparently has mostly played second and some corner outfield. FWIW their interest includes having or not having Springer.
I’m guessing he probably could play it, and I like the idea of adding him if the price is right, but he’s with Boras so that’s probably unlikely. He’d be an interesting add though, that’s for sure.
If you’re only resigning 1 of Springer, Brantley or Reddick, then you definitely have to get another outfielder in free agency.
Have already seen what he can do, he helped build the team with the lowest payroll in the MLB that’s in the World Series.
Because I’d rather extend a younger Correa with his prime years ahead of him and I don’t think the Astros can afford him and Springer. Re-up Brantley and sign Minor on short term deals, find another quality OF. 1. Maldonado 2. Gurriel 3. Altuve 4. Bregman 5. Correa 6. Tucker 7. Marisnick or E. Hernandez 8. Brantley 9. Alvarez 10. Stubbs or Garneau 11. Diaz 12. Straw 13. McCormick (future stud) 14. Toro, Mayfield, Garneau, etc 1. Grienke 2. Valdez 3. Minor (Elite spin-rate on his fastball) 4. McCullers 5. Urquidy 6. Osuna 7. Pressly 8. J. Smith 9. Paredes 10. Taylor 11. Javier 12. Pruitt 13. & 14. Between Raley, Abreu, C. Perez, James, Sneed, Scrubb, Garcia, etc can always find quality relievers at the trade deadline after exercising internal options.
