Get any job in NBA? Yes Is TIllman a dick and a bad owner? Yes Downgrade? As it looks right now, absolutely But comon, you want to be in the same analytics circus for another 10 years? It does not work. It never will. Does analytics help, sure, but IMO its a small part of winning it all... He had 13 years, are we always gonna blame injuries and the owners?
It was another internal fight probably. Morey didn't want WB and Tillman forced him. He probably didn't want JVG and told Tillman he's out if he forces a coach on him.
APBR taking over the Houston Rockets? lol. Is the team still going to be primarily analytics-driven? There's only so much crap you can take "credit" for when someone else is making the decisions. Good job leaving the dumpster fire if you're leaving on your own terms.
If you know Morey this is the stuff he likes. He loves to work his way out of bad, impossible situations so he can say he did it. Tilman is the one situation he couldn't solve.. what a bummer.
Would I want the Rockets to cumulatively be one of the best teams in the league for 13 more years? Yes? I understand a lot of this thread is just "welp, I demand ONLY A championship no rings fire everyone!" Level of binary SAS-Boussard-Cowherd" analysis but it's as stupid or even stupider to do this for generals manager than it is for players or coaches.
Horrible news. I really wanted to see Morey put together this team from scratch in a full rebuild after Harden's window passed. Hard to be excited about the future of the Rockets, but hope to be proven wrong...
Did Morey want to trade for Westbrook? Was that his idea? That was the beginning of the end. What followed was the trade of Capela and the ultra small ball experiment that ended in failure. I think Morey realized the Rockets had gone as far as they could go. What direction could they have gone? Reverse direction and give up on small ball? I’m guessing the coaches they’ve interviewed didn’t want to play Moreyball. So, Morey just said he would go. I’ll miss the guy because he was a hard worker that was always trying to swing a deal. Maybe that was his weakness. He was a bit impatient, and wouldn’t wait for players to develop.
Do you realize how many teams in the NBA have been shooting 3s like crazy nowadays? Can you name any major impact centers now in the league that can be viewed as a cornerstone of their franchises and actually carrying the teams to victories? LOL
Step one of the rebuild complete. Harden gets one more shot, but wouldn't be upset if he is traded at peak value. Hopefully all the Harden Only Fans on this form go with him.
There is always some innocent who argues that everything good is Morey's responsibility and for everything bad "he is never in absolute control of things." Amazing!
Okay dude let me simplify things, whatever "bad" he has is outweighed by the tremendous amount of success he brought this franchise. This.Franchise.Is.In.The.Toilet
Interesting. Clearly Morey's perception of Houston's future had to be impacted by his experience working for Tillman.
In times of Rona it is not easy to find someone good, heck, even under normal circumstance luck is involved.
