I like the idea of doing this and giving Gallinari the full-MLE and having that be the offseason, fill out the roster with vet minimums after that.

Acquiring Bamba and Baynes would be more economical AND would still have Russ for another big trade at trade deadline. But acquiring Embiid (or even Simmons) sounds too good to be true.

If the team can just add Wood to the core, we are set. Tilman could compete for a championship in year one of the post Morey years and we can all pretend he’s the GOAT.

One could rebuild this team very quickly. Success wouldn’t be guaranteed but it would be an interesting team and you could dump on Lebron’s LA teams. Harden for Wiggins, Paschall, Looney and #2 (Hayes as Harden’s replacement?) Westbrook for Randle, Payton, Ellington and #8 (Devin Vassell why not) Gordon/Tucker for Dinwiddie/Thomas House for Bamba Dinwiddie, Payton, Clemons Hayes, Ellington, McLemore Wiggins, Vassell, Thomas Covington, Paschall, Caboclo Randle, Looney, Bamba I think we’re back to “fun .500 team” territory but it’s possible to do. Wait out some of the veteran contracts while the youth develops. Resign whoever becomes necessary and have big money to add a free agent to a solid, homegrown-ish core in like 3 years when Lebron, GSW are old and beat up. Sigh... Morey leaving is a bummer.
