The Rays grind out at bats and don’t beat themselves in the field. They make their opponents earn everything. Like you, if they beat the Astros and advance to the World Series, I want them to win the entire thing.
It seems this Rays work with more smoke and mirrors than those Royals did. Not saying the Rays aren't talented. They are. But they use more gimmicky type tactics. Props to them, I just hope we can get another win tomorrow.
Your point about the pitchers is spot on - if they didn't step up I think we let Springer walk as we'd be paying JV and Greinke ~$55M alone and don't have room to sign a frontline starter. Framber and Javier are legit.
Further to this point, perhaps management doesn’t spend on Springer if it looks like our window is closing. These young pitchers performing well under the bright lights of the postseason show that we should not be thinking about rebuilding.
