It's a good thing we're not facing this current pitcher for 9 innings cause we'd have 20 strikeouts and no hits if we did. Edit: Psych!
This seems like a terrible decision to me. They increased their chances of winning today, but dramatically reduced their chances of winning the series. Now they are stuck with a 9 innings of a bullpen day, meaning using lots of crappy bullpen pitchers (to avoid 2 innings of it tonight) or will be throwing 3 starters on 3 days' rest, meaning at least one is likely to suck - and they'll need to use the bullpen more the other days. The goal here should be to maximize the odds of winning the series rather than just the one game at the expense of the others. I know there's a temptation to play "one day at a time", but it's a terrible mathematical philosophy.
Looking forward to see how Javier develops going forward. A ton of great potential there. Filthy stuff in his pocket
Send Javier back out for the 9th. Tomorrow is a bullpen day so save Pressly for possibly two innings tomorrow.
