How come MLB is doing so badly? There must be other reasons why ratings for so many sports are down. Trumpers keep claiming it’s because of BLM or “politics in sports,” but it really seems like it’s because we’re in the midst of pandemic with millions having lost their jobs, in danger of losing their jobs, struggling to feed their families, and/or are collecting unemployment.
Because even in normal times Tampa vs Houston isn't going to get the viewership. The last few ALCS have had one of the Yankees or Red Sox. Also, the national hissyfit against the Astros is probably playing a big part in it, too.
Usually villains increase ratings. Yankees vs Astros would obviously generate a lot more buzz because it's the Yankees and the Astros have a bitter rivalry with them more so than the Rays.
I guess it's no fun to share it with others right now. Sports are a real social occasions. Didn't watch **** Lakers win because I didn't need to know about it to physically talk to coworkers who love them. Didn't goto a bar either. 5 lines or less slack chat: Coworker: Did you watch the finals? Me: Yep (lie) Coworker: That was gud. Lebron gud Me: Yeah Lebron gud boss (you know I love the rockets, you ass) Corworker: Yeah. Small talk going downhill remotely...
I didn't watch a minute of the NBA Finals because I'm a Rockets fan and not a Lakers or a Heat fan. I still can't stand the Lakers going back to the 1980's and I'm certainly not going to watch Lebron latest assemblage of players and a compliant coach to win a trophy in another city. Besides that I don't care if he kneels or not. To be honest I don't really care about his opinion on the PRC or Morey (sorry Tinman). I certainly don't respect him for it.
