Are you sure, I thought the Spoelstra-Lue-Vogel system was the key to a championship formula (sans memo)
haha I am a strong believer in if CP3 didn’t get injured we would have won the title. However, it is funny to use it as if it was guaranteed. As if it was guaranteed that Steph and Klay couldn’t get super hot against us and win 2 in a row, nevermind Kevin Durant. As if it’s guaranteed there was no way we wouldn’t have been gassed at the end of two games and squander it. As if it’s guaranteed Chris Paul would never drop a close out game.
We REALLY REALLY REALLY should have kept CP3 and ran it back. My god, thinking about how great of a season CP3 had, to have him on our team after the months off before the bubble, and to have all those draft picks to use at the trade deadline. Sheesh. You don’t think Clint with a couple those picks could have been re-worked in a trade to net us RoCo and Tristan Thompson? You don’t think a pick and House could have netted us Crowder? Morey would have went to work.
When Jimmy Butler trade fell through, writing was on the wall. Especially with the way CP3 came back from injury out of shape and with a changed attitude (super supportive in 2018 then became disruptive in 2019). Also could not reel in Lebron like many thought he could.
It wasn't guaranteed, but we were up double digits at halftime of game 6 without CP3. The refs hosed us royally in game 7. We win either game with Paul.
Obviously you cant predict the bubble and the benefits of the time off, but yes CP3 was the perfect fit for Morey ball and Pringles. Staying healthy and and locker room tension failed the 2019 season. Either way the time frame of winning a chip has gone down dramatically as Denver, Dallas, Lakers, Clippers, Jazz are either established teams or on the rise while portland and Houston are on a downward trend. Were not winning the title anytime soon
1) Fire Morey 2) Make this team younger. 3) Front court needs bigger players. then this team will have a small chance if they play team ball.
The current version of the Rockets will not win a title. Having Westbrook on your team will not win you a title. Playing guys out of position and having to defend much bigger guys for an entire game so you get gassed quickly will not win you a title. The roster needs to be overhauled but that’s not happening with no money or draft picks. And finally we actually need shooters for once. For years Morey has surrounded Harden with sub par shooters minus Bmac and CP3.
LOL I get it! But this team needs size with some range. I think if (BIG IF) he can stay healthy and happy with his role he could be a guy that either Ty Lue or even JVG could design a decent scheme for. Brooks Lopez would be option B for me, but get a guy who can offer some resistance in the paint if nothing else with his size alone. Adding a guy with a 3 point shot at that position would be phenomenal. Im done with PJ Tucker at the 5.
Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked to see Morey do some tire-kicking with Cousins. We all know his thing is trying to acquire superstars, and Boogie might be the only one out there who he could possibly sign on the cheap. Something tells me that another team will offer more money and more years, though.
1. Defense/Rebounding 2. Offense that can score in the open court as well as half court 3. A coach that can blend personalities and motivate as well as be good at x's and o's 4. Chemistry 4. Superstar has to trust role players and vise versa 5. Commitment from ownership/ front office
Ohhh ohh also don't forget signing a bunch of superstar players for your whole roster like Lebron always does. You also need an owner that is willing to spend! Like way over the Tax Line and is not afraid of the repeater tax. Oh wait that'll never happen with Tilman as the owner.
1) LeBron James walks through that door. 2) Kevin Durant walks through that door. 3) Russell Westbrook walks out that door.
Hosed us royally? How? Warriors had 16 turnovers and 22 fouls called against them. We had 12 turnovers and 17 fouls called us against us. Are you sure it had nothing to do with us building a brick mansion shooting 7/44 (16%) from 3? Harden was 2/13 from 3 and had a 6:5 assist to TO ratio. Ariza saved the worst performance of his life for his last game with us. Played 42 minutes, went 0 for 12 from the field with ZERO points and didn’t do a damn thing in slowing down Durant 34/5/5 on 52% shooting. Where’s the part where the refs screwed us?
Luck with injuries Silver and rigged officiating Generous spending/balanced bench and overall roster with 2 stars, superstars or more. Lebron James
Spending wasn’t the main issue. How about spending wisely instead? Like not signing Ego to a 4 year 75.6 million extension. How about not mortgaging the future for an inferior player with a worse contract and then trying to reinvent the game to fit a square peg into a round hole.
