Curious how Clutchfans sees the debate. Check poll. Will add enough options to cover who I think would be the most popular options. Would have been nice if there was a "rank choice" poll option, where multiple options can be selected but in a particular order. You can pick up to three. Try to pick them as the top three players who are ahead of the rest on the list by historical standards (so, please resist temptation to include a player just because he's your personal favorite).
we can't do ranked choice, but you could let people pick multiple options for top 3 or 4. should at least mimic ranked choice.
Imagine where Spanoulis would be on this list if only JVG had let him be the Greek version of American TMac in America.
do you think kobe is better than duncan or did you just put him in the poll because you think others will vote for him?
I don't, but I tried to make the poll options reflect who I think are the most popular options as I wrote in the initial post. A large segment of (young) NBA fans think Kobe has a case for GOAT. I don't know of anyone who has made such a case for Tim Duncan.
I think Kareem is GOAT, followed by MJ and Lebron. Jabbar had a 20 yr career of greatness in the 70s, was undisputedly the college GOAT, won a title in only his 2nd year and has more MVPs and just as many rings as MJ. He also played until MJ got drafted so you can't really say his level of comp was vastly different from Jordan's. TBH I'd put Bird's Big 3 as better comp than anything MJ's Bulls ever faced. But when Lebron retires I think he will be the GOAT cuz he spent 16 years+ in today's NBA where the competition is so high and the average NBA athlete would destroy an average player from the 80s.
