Obviously it's the far left... can't believe you're deflecting for your people. ;)

If you want to talk about CONFEDERATE statues, those communities have the right to put up whatever statue they want and the right to remove it. Legally. Not much else to say about it bro.

We've been talking about confederate statues - that's what the OP originally stated, stop trying to change the debate so you can win.
You and your white nationalist views should have stayed retired.

Look at the poll. 92% say people tearing down a statue should be prosecuted.

Rarely do the people of D&D agree on anything to that extent.

Congratulations, we’ve found something that almost all of us agree on.

So who is it on the far left?

Or is it just random people virtue signalling?

"Ohio City Offers to Accept Removed Statues, Including Columbus":

    https://www.newsweek.com/ohio-city-offers-accept-removed-statues-including-columbus-1515522

    excerpt:

A northeast Ohio city has offered to accept statues that have been removed from other areas of the United States due to their controversial ties.

On Saturday, David Lynch, the city manager of Ohio's Newton Falls, outlined the offer in a written proclamation letter that was obtained and published by several local news outlets. The letter designated Newton Falls a "Statuary Sanctuary City." It also described intentions to provide a "general amnesty" to monuments commemorating U.S. leaders who have been denounced for their associations with slavery and violence rooted in racism.

"I, David M Lynch, as City Manager for the City of Newton Falls do hereby proclaim that Newton Falls shall be known as a 'Statuary Sanctuary City' welcoming statues rejected by other cities across the United States and also proclaiming a general amnesty for George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Ulysses S. Grant, Patrick Henry, Francis Scott Key, Theodore Roosevelt and Christopher Columbus as represented by statues removed all the across the United States," the letter stated.

here's another one for you Turley fans out there (looking at you @jiggyfly looking at you @Major ):

    https://jonathanturley.org/2020/07/...pelosi-refuses-to-condemn-statue-destruction/

    excerpt:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declined to condemn the destruction of a statue of Christopher Columbus in the city of Baltimore (where she was born and raised) yesterday in the latest example of politicians enabling such mob action with their silence. When asked about a mob pulling down the statue and dumping it in the harbor (with no interference from police), Pelosi simply declared “People will do what they do.” Indeed, they will when leaders refuse to condemn their conduct. Her comment explains why a recently arrested supporter of Antifa declared that they are winning in the campaign to destroy statues and memorials. . . .

I previously denounced Pelosi for her ripping up of the State of the Union speech in shattering decades of tradition, but this is an act of mob destruction of public art.

Democratic leaders continue to straddle the fence in not acknowledging, let alone condemning, the extreme elements of recent protests. While the vast majority of protesters have been peaceful, there has been significant violence and property damage. Antifa and other “anti-fascist” organizations have long been a violent presence on college campus, including my own. Indeed, the recently arrested Antifa member accused of organizing the effort to topple the famous Andrew Jackson statue is a GW student.

I have criticized Democratic leaders for their support of Antifa despite its pronounced anti-free speech beliefs and violent history. The effort to remain neutral in the face of violent acts will not last long as today’s allies becomes tomorrow’s reactionaries.

Despite the current divisions in our society, we should be able to agree that the decision to remove such statues must be done collectively and legally in our society. It is disgraceful that a Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the third in line for the presidency of the United States, should have to be prodded to condemn such unlawful action and even then will not do so. While Pelosi said “I don’t care that much about statues,” she should care a bit about statutes like the ones making this a crime.

The media however has been relatively quiet on Pelosi’s comment. Unlike Trump’s equivocation that there were “very fine people on both sides” in Charlottesville, there is no expectation that Pelosi would condemn a mob destroying public art.

This is why James Freeman Clarke once said that “A politician thinks of the next election; a statesman thinks of the next generation.”

Oh, and @Major if you're wondering about my thoughts on this one . . . I agree with Turley.

Since not a single sole here support this I wouldn't be surprised of those people were right wing provactors. All people like Andy grifter Ngo needs to call people Antifa is people wearing black or people doing things he doesn't like. There really isn't anything beyond that in terms of intellectual curiosity and journalism integrity where he actually investigates to figure out identities and affiliation. He just needs some people on camera.

They should hang out in Afghanistan
The Taliban don’t like statues either
Plus the Taliban would gladly have face coverings
    For them
Not because of religion because they probably don’t want to see their faces

Hmm... 210,000 Americans dead from COVID-19, the number of cases riding in many states, people unemployed, an election, a supreme court opening... and you guys are focused on statues?

Apparently the GOP has decided statues are the issues Americans are voting on.

    Honestly who cares?

Tearing down statues in places like Portland or else where is WAY down the list of importance.

Abraham Lincoln was a dick anyway. He was a racist..... “I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races,” he began, going on to say that he opposed blacks having the right to vote, to serve on juries, to hold office and to intermarry with whites. Hell, Lincoln wanted to send blacks back to Africa or South America on boats. He flat out said that blacks and whites should be seperate.

Roosevelt spoke of Native Americans as “squalid savages” and justified the taking of their lands by force as a means to spread white European civilization. He decried the evils of slavery but did not believe, nearly half a century after it ended, that black people were ready to vote.

Writing about war with Native Americans: “The most righteous of all wars is a war with savages, though it is apt to be also the most terrible and inhuman . . . A sad and evil feature of such warfare is that whites, the representatives of civilization, speedily sink almost to the level of their barbarous foes.”

On the annexation of Texas in 1845: “It was of course ultimately to the great advantage of civilization that the Anglo-American should supplant the Indo-Spaniard.”

On slavery: “I know what a good side there was to slavery, but I know also what a hideous side there was to it, and this was the important side.”

On African-Americans: “I do not believe that the average Negro in the United States is as yet in any way fit to take care of himself and others as the average white man, for if he were there would be no Negro problem.”

So I can see how people can look at these two President's and view them as racists (because they were).

If the local police want to arrest those that are tearing down the statues, they certainly can do so........ I personally am more concerned with a President openly telling his AG and SoS to go to war with his personal enemies before the election and strategically leaking information for his own benefit........ I am more concerned about COVID and the economy, and the growing gap between the wealthy and the poor in the USA.

You and other extremists can be worried about a statue in Portland being pulled down.
