Urban can come down and not fire the coordinators And turn it around Besides those are his guys anyway the issue with Herman is discipline and respect from the players Urban has that already based on resume alone
Herman is a control freak. He wants to control everything and when he ultimately has to delegate he doesn't always do a great job delegating to the right people and then has a hard time overseeing everything. He is very bright and capable, just the longer he coaches at UT the more apparent it becomes that he isn't a great manager of people. Being a head coach at a place like UT is as much about management as coaching. Herman can likely go to a smaller, but still competitive program and do very well. He could easily even beat bigger programs (which he has done) possibly. UT really needs a CEO, and not a football coach.... someone that can put the right people in place and manage the program. While UH is a good program and has a lot of upside, it isn't near the size as UT and the temptations in Austin are very different. UH has more of a blue collar, chip on it's shoulder program and UT is a blue blood program.
Discipline is such a ridiculous problem year after year. Go back to last season when we were the most penalized team in the Big 12 and believe we are even worse this year. Unsportsmanlike conduct at the 1 yard line, holding in OT with 1st and goal, etc...You just don't see good teams kill themselves like we have. And surprised we haven't brought up what all the transpired after the game when the entire team skipped The Eyes except for Sam. Personally I don't really care either way and CDC/Herman gave them the option but that is a sad sad picture to see. Then you have Chris Brown going on a twitter battle with Charles Omenihu after he called him out for flexing at an OU player after giving up a 1st down in the 4th. And this is not the first time current/past players have gone after each other under Herman.
HAHA they both are loud assholes that scream a lot and blame others......... the one thing I will give Herman though is that he is REALLY good at game preparation when he can circle 3-4 dates on the calendar and prepare..... he could do that UH, because they usually rolled over their conference and only to worry about 1-2 conference games and 2-3 out of conference games....... BOB doesn't seem to be able to game plan at all.... I'll say this, if Herman ends up at a program that has a weak conference schedule (thinking mostly of USC or UH), then there is no way in hell I would play him out of conference if I were a big program.... it is walking into a buzz saw.
Nah, lived there, been there, go there...it's just funny sometimes how far Austin and Austinites can stick their head up their collective ass and pretend that everything smells like roses.
not a UT fan just saw this floating around on twitter. assume they're trying to appease boosters since the team isn't doing well? @gkketch Multiple sources confirmed that UT president Jay Hartzell, AD Chris Del Conte and head football coach Tom Herman met with the football team last night about The Eyes of Texas controversy. It was conveyed to the players that they will be expected to stand during the school song.
This issue has been completely mismanaged. It's really a problem with communication and expectations more than anything else.
So when it came to a fight between the players and the alumni, the administration sided with the alumni. I don't know the right solution, but pretty sure this isn't going to help unite the team.
FWIW, apparently the meeting went well without any objections. According to Chip Brown, this was conveyed to the teams and coaches this summer when all of these discussions were happening. I pin this on Herman for letting this happen, which according to him was more of a mistake because the Eyes weren't played until after OU played their school song. Just more excuses IMO.
It's like the saying: "What's the definition of a newcomer? Someone who moves to a place and immediately tries to change it into the place they just left?"
