    Just got done watching the 1926 Buster Keaton classic "The General." It was in the silent era so most of the sound is classical tunes. I heard this one & couldn't recall where I knew it from.

    So here's the idea: Post a classical song from something you recall being in a show and see if folks can recall where they know it from. (there are normally going to be multiple answers.)

    Here's the one that stumped me.

    The piece in the original post is not Classical. It is 20th century Soviet formalism.

    Carmina Burana - Reminds me of a movie I watched as a kid that I thought was epic at the time. It had everything a 10yr old wanted to see. Naked women, witches and sorcerers, kings, and lots of blood. Bonus - It also had Captain Picard before he was Picard.

    Any guesses, it should be pretty easy with all the clues.

    Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys became OBSESSED with Shortnin' Bread. He just kept recording it again, and again, and again. One time Iggy Pop was with him and Brian insisted on playing it for him and he wouldn't stop. Finally Iggy walked out and goes "this guy is nuts!!!"

    Loved this guy. They brought him back for at least one episode for a new Tom & Jerry show. I was pumped when I saw him.

    Not 100% sure, but I think this is the only time a song written for a cartoon became a hit record, Spike Jones released a cover and sold a ton (Sugar, Sugar was released by "The Archies" but was never intended for a cartoon):




    "Gremlins from the Kremlin", probably my favorite cartoon ever:
