He could still win - I don’t think so but it’s a possibility- however his undoing was not being prepared - his strength was guiding a capitalism approach to the economy and pre COVID that was apparent - however when we saw the Russia gate and crap we saw that the liberals would attempt to go after him for anything and everything- that is politics or politic games 101 I suppose but the weakness was not being prepared to counter that - he didn’t need to make the comments about Russia if you are listening even if he was in jest because it would be used against you - his choice of people was suspect in the beginning of his administration and yes he didn’t maximize his options and behavior after COVID happened - if there is a lesson in this it’s be prepared if you want to get into politics - know your political adversary will look for anything and everything that can expose you for the worst - it’s simply how politics are - and have a smart plan on how to react to situations
This was before COVID: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/u...d-during-the-2008-financial-crisis-2019-06-19 Trump's economy was fueled by consumer debt and stock buybacks. His approach to the economy is the same approach that has resulted in the median household income adjusted barely increasing over the past 40 years while median household debt adjusted has drastically shot up during that same time frame.
I understand and I think concerns about economic polices that the Biden Admin and Democratic Congress might do are legitimate concerns. I will go further and say that concerns that Trump focused on regarding trade issues and how globalization has hurt US blue collar jobs are legitimate. These are certainly subjects for serious debate. There is also nothing wrong with being a Conservative in and of itself. Some might disagree but being Conservative who believes that limited government and Judeo Christian values are important doesn't make someone a bad person. Just as being a Liberal doesn't make someone a bad person. The problem though is that while Trump certainly isn't a Liberal he's not really a Conservative. Government spending hasn't declined under Trump, in fact even prior to COVID-19 had increased, and the Constitutional understanding of the separation of powers has been greatly eroded under him. There have been a few cases where Trump has gone around even the Republican Congress to do things like sell weapons to Saudi Arabia. He's also appeared to use the DOJ for to protect his loyalists. This is why there are several people who consider themselves to be Conservatives who are opposed to Trump. I understand the frustration that people like yourself who have been Republicans and supporters of Trump feel regarding impeachment and the investigations into Trump. It's the same reason why Democrats were upset with the investigation and impeachment into Bill Clinton. Just because they have been pushed by partisan purposes doesn't necessarily make them wrong. Consider why someone like Justin Amash who is probably the most principled Conservative in Congress, came to the conclusion that he couldn't support Trump. Consider too someone like Mitt Romney also came to that conclusion and made the very difficult to decision to vote for removal. Neither of them benefitted politically from those decisions. Both are pariahs in the party but it's also important to note that neither have become Democrats. Besides the 'Russia thing' the chaos and contradiction around Trump that I think you're grasping, is hurting the Conservative movement. This isn't something that was unexpected from Trump but this is what he said he would do. He said he would shake things up and make big changes but shaking things up and making big changes isn't always good. I can understand you don't like or trust Democrats but at the same time is it worth it go down with Trump just because you don't like Democrats? For me I've personally never liked Biden, less about his policies but more that he annoys the crap out of me. I also don't trust Kamala Harris and I obviously have some pretty strong disagreements with the Progressives. Those are important but this is about the state of the country. If we're going to continue with a chaotic and seemingly unfocused Administration that appears to be more about the aggrandizement of one man and his family or are we going to return to stability. We will still have political fights and disagreements but at least have some sense that the institutions of government are working.
Trump wants his political opponents arrested, and it seems like it’s barely even a story. arresting political opponents is exactly what a dictator would do Is this the United States of America, or North Korea? he says sh*t like this, and people are just used to it...if Obama ever talked like this as President, all hell would’ve broke loose
If it makes you feel better he said the same stuff in 2016 and then in the 60 Minutes interview the week after the election he said he didn't want to arrest or harm them. This is just more Trump bluster.
Trump aint wearing no mask ... because he thinks himself immune ... and hey isn't that would really matters?
he’s only become more unhinged since then...as his L in the 2020 election looms closer and closer, he’s becoming more and more desperate I put nothing past him
That certainly is possible. At this point though I doubt even Barr will have the DOJ try to arrest or charge Biden, Obama or Hillary. Barr is a Trump loyalist but I don't think he will risk putting his neck out there just to fulfill the whims of Trump.
to me, the only reason somebody like Barr won’t is because there is absolutely nothing there...they have no evidence of anything Trump knows there is no evidence, but is still calling for their arrest like a true dictator, and it seems like it’s not even a big deal just getting blown off as “Trump being Trump”...a president this unhinged is something I thought I’d never see
I agree that barr wouldn't do something as bold as that, but would he release his own "Comey letter". That seems more in line with the MO of this current DOJ.
