Shane Battier not working for Rockets is just wrong.

McNair swoops in with morey's top choice for AHC. maybe he'll throw us a bone with a trade.

    Too bad.

Wanted Gentry as assistant if Rockets stupidly hired Lue, for big bucks no less.

Luke Walton knows who really ran the offense during GSW dynasty period.

Article deserves its own thread. Especially for this franchises message board.

So two of my favorites in Chris Finch and David Joerger seem to be under the radar for the Rockets at this point.

My ranking of the guys who have been mentioned by most media. My tiers.

    Clear favorites.
    1. Kenny Atkinson
    2. Stephen Silas

    Would be a fun reunion.
    3. Jeff Van Gundy

    Interesting hires, lower cost.
    4. David Vanterpool
    5. Wes Unseld

Tilman ain't paying and I'm not playing this game.
    6. Ty Lue

Keep him the **** away from this job.
    7. John Lucas

I wouldn't be upset with anyone 1-5. Ty Lue is less interesting and more expensive. John Lucas would be the absolute worst case scenario of treading water that I've ever seen a team do.

It doesn't matter who they hire. Just a puppet to do whatever Morey/Harden wants. Morey's gonna hire his puppet, hire the puppet's staff, tell the puppet how to coach, how to play...

And if they aren't paying top dollar for a coach, Jeff Van Gundy can't be considered the favorite. Like he's coming cheaply? He's coming on a hometown discount? He's gonna take a discount from his comfy broadcasting job?

Tim made it seem like JVG is almost desperate to get back into the NBA and Houston is basically the only place he wants to be. I'd imagine $5 Million a year would be attractive enough for him. He may even take $3+ incentives (the Tilman special). Ty Lue is going to want $8-$10 a season.

I wonder how much would Atkinson ask for? $2million?
What about Silas? Maybe $1million since he has not been a head coach yet?

I would imagine 4-5 for Kenny and 2-4 for Silas. The floor is around 2 or 3 for head coaches.

I'm not opposed to it actually, and I think he's a good fit from a personality standpoint, a solid defensive mind and in terms of someone Harden and Westbrook would really respect. But like others, I'd still prefer Atkinson or Silas, and if JVG is the hire, he needs a legitimate offensive assistant next to him. Those T-Mac/Yao offenses were pretty dreadful at times under him.

TY Lue wants 7M. He has already said that publicly and may consider an offer between 5M-6M.

No way JVG getting 5M from Tilly. He only offered MDA between 2.5M and 3M.

And MDA is the best available coach on market.

MDA has the most wins among all the candidates in the last 5 years, it's not even close.
