Watch what happens when Biden is president. Won't even talk or tweet about Trump's legal battles. The DOJ probably won't touch Trump. The only entity that will prosecute Trump is SDNY which is out of the control of Biden. He will be prosecuted for state level crimes but not for federal level crimes because Biden and his administration are responsible adults and probably understand how it would be percieved as a political witch hunt.
I still get the feeling they will cut a deal with Trump. If on Jan. 21st we see Trump and his family getting on a plane and moving to another country and no move by the US gov. to stop them or go after them it wouldn't surprise me.
Exactly. Biden and the people he is going to surround himself with even if I disagree or am lukewarm with many of their positions are responsible adults. They understand the political climate and their goal is going to be to minimize divisiveness as much as possible and that unfortunately means just letting Trump go. Johnson has to be in it up to his neck, there is a reason he is still pushing this when everybody can see it will not have any effect. This is the shoe I most want to drop, he has to be getting paid by someone.
If this happens there will be a revolt within the democratic party and republicans will probably take back the house because of the division. I have no idea why people think giving Trump a deal will stop anything, the people that are prone to violence will still want to do things even if Trump is given a "deal" Ya'll give Trump way to much power he is just a symptom of the disease an avatar if you will. People are gonna be mad regardless and if he is given a deal that just means people will be pissed on both sides.
I think any prosecuting of the Trump family after the election should be handled at the state level for state level felonies. A Trump investigation at the federal level with Biden manning the helm is just going to create division because it will be labeled as a political with hunt. When Biden is president he needs to act as if Donald Trump doesn't exist. Just don't mention him and get the DOJ involved and let him go down with state level felonies. We need to show the GOP base what divisive political leadership looks like.
Being a skeptic is fine and can be healthy. Having something proven and then looking for any possible way to cast even a glimmer of hope for confirmation bias isn’t. We already know there was a basis for an investigation and we already know that Trump asked for and received help from Russia. We have a report by a Republican stating that the investigation was justified. The reality is you and others don’t want to accept the truth and will continue to search for any imperfection or anything taken out of context to justify your political position. The truth is though... the American people already know what happened, they have seen four embarrassing years of lying and corruption and are tired of it.
I don't think it's a maybe. I'm pretty sure they have a sealed indictment on Trump as a co-conspirator on the Stormy Daniels situations. SDNY though is a federal jurisdiction so if the Biden Administration doesn't pursue Trump they are unlikely to do so. The State of NY though still could but if Trump were to leave the country it's unlikely those come to anything.
People are going to mad for sure but once Trump is out of office it won't be like politics stop and the only thing to worry about is what happens to Trump. Consider in March of 2021 the trial of Chauvin and the LEO in the murder of George Floyd will be happening. That likely will consume the country. Even before then the Biden Administration will likely be heavily involved in trying to repair relations with US Allies. Even if we have a vaccine it won't be widely available and we'll sill be dealing with thousands dying a day from it. Finally the unity of Progressives, Moderates and Never Trumper Conservatives will likely quickly evaporate and there will be some big fights in Congress regarding taxes, health care, Green New Deal and packing the courts. There is going to be a lot on Biden's plate and also the country as a whole. There will be people who want to see Trump prosecuted but there will be a lot of other issues that are going to be more pressing that Biden will have to deal with and likely will consume our attention.
This goes to why I say there isn't just a lack of critical thinking but anti-critical thinking. For example just pointing out that the Obama DOJ went after the Clinton campaign and did more harm to that campaign than they did to Trump rather than following Occam's Razor but considering that it hints at a deeper conspiracy.
We find common ground in your first statement. That's good. It's clear you still haven't grasped the sequence of what actually happened and why the investigation started, not to mention why it was continued well into Trump's presidency. For sake of simplicity, I'd ask that you look into Nunes' 2018 report. The declassified docs now support that report as being true. Because that report was true and other house members knew it was true and pushed a false narrative, that means they knowingly lied to the rest of congress and the American people (Schiff, Pelosi...dems). But I wouldn't ask you to believe me. I ask that you dig and come to your own conclusion. That is if you are really interested in understanding what happened and what some of us have been trying to say for the last year and half. The election is next month. It takes time and a desire to dig into it this. I don't expect you or anyone that already has made up their mind to do so. But remember we were lied to about yellowcake. We are constantly lied to. I think you know that. We obviously disagree about who's doing the bulk of the lying but I'm more concerned about the context of the lie because if the lettered agencies can influence the media to deliver the same messages. Our choice is being taken from us and it's already being decided who our elected leaders will be or who they want them to be. And this group who does the 1%er's bidding, will jump from the R to D party, depending on who they can control or work with. This really is bigger than Watergate and if it doesn't get buried by the MSM it should wake America up....on both sides. Graham, McConnell, Ryan.... all of them are a part of the corruption. I don't have to name the D's. It's sick and been going on a long time. Trump campaigned on exposing it all (draining the swamp as he called it). This is what that looks like. I'd call it a conspiracy theory but these things keep turning out to be true.
That was Comey covering his ass and trying to put a lid on the emails. The issue really that she had the servers. It's the content of the emails. That's what they are trying to hide. Wikileaks is an easy place to find some of the leaked emails.
And none of that will be affected by allowing justice to run its course. I have no idea what type of deal you think Biden can do or why would it be any different than Trump telling Barr what to do. Are you really willing to fracture the minimal alliance progressives have with moderates to do a deal with Trump? I really don't see any upside to this proposed deal with Trump its like negotiating with a terrorist and just says its ok to do what Trump and his family are doing as long as there is a threat of violence after you leave. Biden is not the one who would be prosecuting and him doing a deal will not help get anything done especially with progressives. To me none of this makes sense.
So what does doing a "deal" accomplish anyway? I agree that Biden should act like he never existed but he should also not weigh in on what the DOJ wants to do.
