Game companies don't usually pay well for mid to lower grades. They don't have to...

Eh, OLED is pretty overrated, a top Samsung QLED (especially Q9FN I have, the newer ones weirdly are a downgrade) has similar black levels and is much brighter and often has better bright color presentation.

Plus no degradation after time or burn-in.

The "only need Series X if you have a 4k TV" sentiments are very misleading, Series S will very likely still have worse frame rate and less visuals (ray tracing, render quality etc) in many games.

OLED is so much better compared to the QLED marketing gimmick, that even Samsung finally caved and will shift to OLED. The President of the US eats ketchup with steak though, the heart wants what it wants sometimes.

doesnt really seem like a big leap. the textures and resolution are nicer but the animations and fluidity during actual gameplay seem as unrealistic as current/last-gen. what's the point of getting photorealistic textures if the players all still move and react unrealistically? will be much more impressed when they get more seamless animation and have AI responding more fluidly to what's happening. need the naughty dog animators to give them tips.

This is wrong, you are mixing up Samsung Display with the actual Samsung brand, SD is just one of their owned subsidiaries.

Samsung is continuing with LCD and has no plans to do any OLED models in the future, instead focusing on QLED and Mini LED.

    https://www.oled-info.com/samsung-e...-qd-oleds-its-tvs-sdc-looking-other-customers

Samsung is even mentioning that they aren't happy with OLED brightness and other aspects.

Also, you didn't anyhow explain why OLED is so much better or why QLED is bad, instead just mentioning marketing.

You not being able to technically explain the advantages or disadvantages actually shows that you just fell into the marketing trap and believe hearsay.

Even well renowned calibrators and tech manufacturers are stating that with a TV like the Q9FN you can not see the black difference compared to an OLED, except for very unique video situations in pitch black rooms.

Plus like I mentioned, QLED is much brighter, better at displaying bright colours, better 24fps playback, less black smear, less vertical banding.

Both have upsides and downsides, but acting like one is superior while the other is crap just shows a misunderstanding of the tech or bias.

This is pee-pee games to the max right here. Lulz. Here are your beloved tech specs - https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/best/tvs-on-the-market. LG OLED lays the smack own every year.

    But "BRIGHTNESS!".

I know the specs and rtings reviews, they don't anyhow say QLED is crap or that OLED is tiers above.

Maybe you don't read the reviews in detail and only looked at who's 1st place, I don't know. But even there they mention pros and cons.

And funny how you reduce it to brightness when I mentioned like 10 factors and could talk about more.

But no need to discuss I guess, you don't want to change your opinion or have a technical discussion.

PS5 teardown if you're into that kind of thing. Shows where the expansion SSD would go among other things. Not really that interesting for average gamers I think, though they confirm they're using liquid metal to help cool the SoC. My understanding is this is pretty unconventional, and while it does help greatly with cooling, it is hard to prevent issues later down the line. Sounds like Sony put a lot of work into this, so I'm sure they think it will be just fine. But just to be safe, I'd recommend people take good care of their PS5s. :)

And yeah, that thing is huge.

I knew it was big but I had to do a double take when I saw that still frame.. It's bigger than that dude's upper body. You could chop that dude's head off and put it on the PS5 and you wouldn't notice

Ok, this where MS PC hardware experience of the last decade and half is showing. They seem to have learned how make a cooling solution while keeping a relatively small console.

The SSD expansion just allows people to buy their own compatible SSDs and use them vs a propriety SSD like what MS is doing for the Xbox. It will probably be cheaper (especially in the long run), though it is also more complicated and easier to screw up. 2 different solutions for the same problem, and both of them are fine IMO.

The heat sink is definitely big. They seem to be saying it will be much quieter/cooler than other designs (definitely better than PS4), so I guess if that's true, maybe it is all worth it. But that remains to be seen.

The unit inside of the "fins" actually doesn't look that big. Don't know why they're so big...maybe it is necessary for airflow or something.

Some people are complaining that the Xbox Series X is running hot, while being quiet. Anyone who has ever owned or built a gaming PC understands why this is happening. The large fan at the stop is moving hot air OUT of the system to keep it cool. Instead moving it to thru the back, the Series X does it thru the top. It seem like Sony is trying move the hot thru the back (like always), hence the VERY large heatsink helps channel the air thru the system. MS went for a more simple solution and Sony with a more Elegant, albeit, large solution. I guess we will see which one is more effective in the long run.
