We should be that lucky - I expect to see a tidal wave of administrative decisions that forgive all kinds of corporate crimes (pollution in particular), pardon all kinds of corporate criminals and turn over national assets to private interests.

Yes. After Trump loses, there won't be any government action for at least a third of a year, too late to rescue some businesses and people in need. He will just sit on his throne, watching things burn. A real life mad king.

Trump is more a parasite than blood thirsty murderer. 2 Trillion in excess pre-Covid deficit spending and for what?

Our future generations won't be able to move outside his morbidly obese shadow soon enough.

Good point. Well, Moscow Mitch has already made it possible for the Trump **** stain to be spread over several decades. Trump losing his damn mind losing an election, I can't even imagine the putrid trail that he will leave behind.

If the economy is heading down the garbage chute, an amazing spending package will be, beautiful (in the words of our dear leader).

    That's the spirit!

By the way, I love that album. "Changes," "Oh! You Pretty Things", "Life on Mars?" (recorded in one take, and includes Bowie hitting a high B....)

so said the dotard, who, in 2018, initiated a trade war w China.

the trade war ended in early 2019. how effective was the trade war ?

it was a failure, as corroborated by data provided by Trump's Commerce Dept

The U.S. trade deficit surged in August to the largest in 14 years with imports climbing again, suggesting that trade could be a drag on economic growth in the third quarter.

The Commerce Department said on Tuesday the trade deficit jumped 5.9% to $67.1 billion, the widest since August 2006.

The US people are supposed to bailout the airlines again? Then the US people need to get half ownership in the airlines.

They obviously as an industry are not capable of functioning in a more broad capitalist society. So the American people can "invest" in the airlines and take half ownership.

No, it will take decades to real undo the vast majority of harm of the last 4 years.

Airlines are incredibly subsidized, with the basic idea of making flights available to the common man. Our investment is usually in the airports, which are totally worthless without the airlines.

The current situation is a worthwhile bailout. The rest of the cash giveaways to airlines are far more questionable.

I don't have an issue with a bailout if the people get a percentage of ownership.

Yes, I am a big fan of "socialism" bailing out capitalism.

The US can happily take majority ownership stake in airlines.

Even if a US president is bad at his job, the economy can still overcome it and add jobs.

It takes a special kind of bad to go negative job growth.

Airlines are only sustainable during good times, but they can borrow against all their airplanes.....it is a necessity that we have them though, so in favor of an ownership steak - to be sold off when they turn around.
