Not really, the top 4 states are head and shoulders above the rest: California, Texas, New York and Florida ..even split with Texas virtually tied with NY or ahead in some categories. 2 states blue, 2 states with red governance ...then you have the reminder 46 that is a clear notch below and is pretty much a wash
The GOP Senate originally pitched a 1B bill (which they can't pass through their own members). 2.2 is about halfway between the two. There is less than 30 days before the election. Didn't MM said shut down the Senate for a week or so (but not the SC nomination process)? I wouldn't be surprise if MM and Trump decided to punt on this to solely focus on the SC nomination.
9 of the 10 most dependent states are hard Red states. 7 of the 10 least dependent states are blue strongholds. Sounds to me that more red states have issues being run well than blue.
It's political suicide. But he did try it once with the 'I shall own the gov shutdown'. However, that wasn't a re-election year. His recent strings of self-damaging political moves put it slightly above the signal noise.
It makes no sense to me. By coming out and declaring an end to negotiations, all he has done is to come across as putting his personal satisfaction above people's needs. It's just strange he can possible think this will help him.
Translation for Powell: psst psst hey...I got a blank check for you! Take it...TAKE IT MOTHER****ERS... TAKE IT NOW BEFORE EVERYONE REALIZES ITS TOO LATE
They’re out till the 19th and that’s exactly what trump or MM (depending on who you think is actually wearing the pants) instructed them to do.
They have another play in mind no doubt. We’ll what it is as the election approaches. Personally I think Pelosi shares blame in not getting this thing done. We all know how feckless and cowardly the gop is but she had an opportunity to get something done and worry about the rest post election. She overvalued her hand and forgot that she dealing with a spastic chimp.
The only reason I can think of is that they don't want to give Biden any stimulus in a new presidency to make sure he does poorly the same as they did with Obama. But that would mean Trump has given up on the election and willing to help the Party - so definitely that's not it.
Personally, I thought it was a mistake that Pelosi didn't take the $1.6T deal offered by Trump administration. I thought it was a pretty fair compromise. If they had passed that, they could of said it was due to their good faith negotiations and being able to working with the other side. Then next year they could of proposed further stimulus if they Democrats had won majority in Senate and Biden won the executive.
That’s the trillion dollar question. What’s in it for trump? We know for damn sure he wouldn’t do so much as hold a door open for an old lady if it didn’t benefit himself. He has assurances from McConnell in some form. This play makes no sense otherwise.
Another idea: Trump sees appointing the new SCOTUS judge as a matter of survival. Top priority. Let's say he has some plans and agreements with some red state governors, AGs, election boards, etc, to nullify votes, override popular vote, or at least contest the counted votes. Take it to the courts, let it go to the SCOUTS, and have those 9 human beings decide who's president, rather than 130 million voters. All that matters is getting reelected, and if he can circumvent the actual voters, then doing 'popular' things is irrelevant.
Except it doesn’t matter what the House Dems do...the GOP Senate isn’t going to accept anything they put forward. Might as well stick to her guns at this point. The GOP in its current state has no idea how to govern a country...just how to stop any governing from happening.
Wait what? She passed a bill what else should she have done? Let the Republicans pack the bill with whatever they wanted like no liability for employers with Corona? What opportunity did she have?
