I dunno how well Dems in Texas are organized, but hopefully the money will give them some life to last beyond this election. I'm out of state, but their messaging has been turdible.
It's promising and I'm a big fan of the concerted effort. It's just one of those things I have to see to believe. I have no idea how they polled in 2016 and if anything has changed on their end since then to account for the errors.
At least democrats pretend to be on their side. What do the Republicans do? "All Lives Matter!!" "Blue Lives Matter!!" "These are lazy people leaching off the system." You get the point. Don't worry, once Republicans start losing majorities in local and state offices, they may change their tune. For now, democrats are still lagging in those areas which is why the system has been upside down for so many years.
I can't read the articles but have read other pieces about the different states of TX. Being outside of TX it's hard for me to follow what's happening there more in depth but everything I've seen says Texas ins on it's way to being a blue state. I personally wouldn't put money on it this year but if Biden does win TX that's pretty much it. TX alone has more electoral votes than PA and MI combined.
More telling if TX goes blue is that means that Democrats are winning 5 of the top 10 most populous states. It's possible in this election the Democrats could win eight of the top 10 states.
If Biden wins Texas, and that's a big "if," Biden has won the election no matter how the mailed in ballots are slowed down or thrown out due to "problems" in swing states, problems that aren't problems, but rather a desperate attempt by the Republican Party and trump to steal this election. If Biden wins Texas, it is all over for trump, and very likely the GOP's grip on the Texas Legislature, in my opinion.
A safety net. Where would people in this country be without SS, Medicare, and Medicaid? Democrats at least understand the value and voted for it. Thank you LBJ. Republicans however continue to vote against their own interests at their own detriment. My mom a staunch Trumper is 63. Every time I ask her how things are going she says she hopes her health hangs on until she is 65 and can get Medicare. However the concept of universal healthcare is a socialist, communist, Marxist, anarchist, etc etc disease that she will spout on about for hours. That’s a Texas Rural Republican. Living off of nothing but the safety net while denouncing it. They pray to get through the day and vote against what could help them do it.
If Biden wins TX, Trump goes from martyr to vermin IMO. The GOP would be in shambles nationally. The meltdown would be nuclear. Trump would have taken their golden ticket and put it in the shredder. To nominate this level of turd in the future would be seen as political suicide. Decency wins and maybe we can begin to heal. A big if but man it would be so huge.
Trailer parks, rusty appliances, and hicks vote Republican. The smart worldly people vote Democrat. Got it. You folks need to get off your pedestal and ground yourselves. Everyone is voting this year and texas will not be as close as you hope.
That's true though. Lulz. But a lot of other people also vote R. That's obviously not the entirety of the base.
No one said only smart worldly people vote democrat? And no, trump is not representative of the Republican vs. democrat dichotomy..it’s one’s own level of ignorance to vote for trump again. 2020 goes beyond party lines. Texas will be close and you can bank on that. Trump will not gain ground or maintain a 9% margin this year. I’m not fully committed to claiming a Biden victory, but it will be a very slim margin either way
The suburbs outside of Houston and DFW had solid red swaths. Those are more of the Reagan conservatives that have been becoming more blue.
Clear cookies and it's all good. Or reload and hit escape button until you time it right... Wapo actually did other states as well...Including Minnesota.
No one has said, “Biden is going to win Texas.” However, it will be close and Joe Biden just might pull it off. If he does, it will be despite the incredible lengths Abbott, Patrick, and Paxton have gone to in their effort to suppress the vote. @Astrodome, do you think Abbott was right to force numerous Texas counties to limit themselves to one early voting ballot box per county? To force Houston, for example, which has over 4.5 million people, to go from 12 boxes to one? The same number Loving County has for all 134 of it’s Texans? Do you think Abbott is right?
I live in the sticks. The trailer parks on my street do vote trump. Of the nice houses it’s mixed Trump/Biden though.
