There's only a MS fanboy in here who tries to trigger with emojis and hahahas.

Like I said, I am always open to both systems and had a 360 the gen before, but it's widely known that Sony has better exclusives quality- and quantity-wise, especially on current gen. Disputing that is just damage control.

And yea like tinman said, unless you work for or own stake in one of the companies, it's super weird to fanboy the brand and flame the other, reminds me of Apple stans.

I wasn't calling you out at all T!

I agree with you, PlayStation has about 3x the amount of big-time exclusives (over the last 2 gens). That's undeniable.

Also agree that console wars, especially for adults, is super weird lol. But that's how people think I guess, reminds me of the whole ford vs chevy here in the country. People got to feel superior about something I guess.

I would say the average gamer has at least two platforms, especially in Europe where everyone has a PC as well.

But back to your childish fanboy bait, why would anyone frantically stan one brand and not be open-minded?

It's all about the gaming catalogue for me and the rest is fluff, here's the systems I owned separated by gen:

    C64
    SNES+GBC
    N64+PSX+GBA
    360+PS3+3DS
    PS4+Switch
Plus the mentioned PC since late 90s.

As an independent person that isn't blinded by dumb fan debates or loyalty, you go for the system with the catalogue that suits you more.

i don't see this as news.
every software company and tech company does this during product launch.

these guys are getting paid well.

the only reason for console wars is for media companies to have something to write about
and it generates hype and brand loyalty

the people who actually work in the gaming industry , don't really care.
it's a job and they like to go the beach or watch football on the weekends like normal people

Agreed, same here. When I was looking for a new job earlier in the year (due to COVID-related layoffs :(), a recruiter tried to pair me up with, funnily enough, Bethesda. I was a bit intrigued since they seemed interested despite my lack of formal game dev experience, but I ended up passing on the opportunity. I really have no interest in getting involved in an industry where this kind of stuff is so common. CDPR are getting the spotlight here, but I think pretty much every major dev does something similar (e.g., Naughty Dog). Honestly, CDPR might even be one of the better ones in terms of how they handle this relative to others, but that's more a diss towards the industry than a compliment to CDPR.

It is odd because it sounds like they all follow Agile (or similar) methodologies too. Not that this magically fixes things (game dev is still hard), but that would normally help fix some of these issues. Guessing there's a lot of scope creep and mismanagement going on in the industry (maybe always trying to match/exceed what everyone else is doing?).

Good thing indies are doing so well these days. Not that it's perfect for them either, but I'd rather go that route than join up with one of these major developers.

FWIW, I've been doing development for 10+ years for 3 different companies, and I've never had that kind of situation come up. Maybe some senior staff have (willingly) crunched pretty hard, but we've mostly been able to get by without going too crazy with crunch fortunately. The team I just joined had an extremely important launch earlier in the year (I think the culmination of 4-5 years of work?), but outside of some of the senior members crunching a bit, there was no pressure to do crunch to get things done.

But like I said earlier, most of the teams I've been involved in have done a great job of planning for these kind of things.

If you're working 6+ days a week, 10+ hours a day, I'd be very worried about bugs and overall efficiency.

    Mind made up?

Game console is a very personal choice. That being said; if you're getting only one next gen console in the near future. Why not go for Playstation. :D:p:cool:

So I'm guessing that since these are both AMD RDNA consoles, that versions of the same game will perform and look alike.

Say Cyberpunk (xbox vs ps), should be about the same?

Barring some odd development issues, yes I'd expect the PS5 and XSX versions of CyberPunk to look and perform more or less the same. There will be differences that nerds like me will love to point out ("This version has 14% less screen tearing during chase missions!"), but most people won't be able to tell the the difference I think. Especially if they both generally stay above 1440p and 30 FPS.

FWIW, this has more to do with having similar CPUs, similar amounts of RAM, similar SSD tech, and similar GPU tech than necessarily both being AMD RDNA. If PS5 had half the CPU cores, a traditional HDD, 8GB of RAM, and only 12 CUs in the GPU, it would look and perform WAY worse than XSX, even though it too could be AMD RDNA.

Lol I don't have a 4K TV so the Series S is the way to go for me plus as long as I have Halo, 2K and Madden I'm good.

Just pre-ordered the Series X. Don't care if it's better or worse than PS5. My friends and I just prefer Xbox.

    Looking forward to Cyberpunk

4k TVs are cheap as dirt now.
Every manufacturer has some cheap tv with very low input lag

According to the developer, the regular PS4/Xbox versions should work on the new consoles and they would release a patch with the next gen upgrades.
I'm guessing ray tracing and a bump in frame rate

4k, 8k, 12k. If it isn't oled, does it even matter?

Gamers: Please treat employees well, don't make them crunch.

Also Gamers: This game better not get delayed again or else!
