If the call had been to the right he could have skipped backwards into the endzone, there was nobody outside.
**** game from the start. I hate being that guy but Herman needs to light a fire under the Big 12 and the officiating. Easily the worst officiated game I’ve seen. But no excuses, Patterson owns Texas and you can’t play like we did and expect to win.
Let's not forget Jake Smith, who's a player and had a good game, dropping a pass when he had 60 yards of open field in front of him. The refs sucked, but UT made way too many mistakes.
I don’t trust Ingram anywhere near the goal line ever again . Give the kid Bijan some time I thought he recovered after that wide open drop vs LSU
Guessing he is still hurt although Herman said he’d likely play. Also hated going fast on that play. You’re not catching Patterson off guard in that situation and much rather have Roschon if you’re gonna try to pound it in.
Look at it again. The entire right side of the field was empty. If your RB can't win that 1 yard race to the pylon then he shouldn't be your RB.
I know that, this is my point. eta: literally any play they could have run out of that set against that defense, other than the one they ran, is a TD. QB sweep, RB outside, jump pass, option right, TE 2 yard out, PA pass to anybody, etc... Is Ehlinger allowed to audible at the line? You'd think he is after 4 years. I just can't blame Ingram too much for the fumble, running into the teeth of a D that was waiting for him
Oh got it. We’ve seen this quite a number of times in the past so wonder if it’s Herman’s call to get up and rush a play in.
Athletic budget obliterated by Covid likely buys him another year or two. You can't furlough a bunch of staff and ask everyone else to take paycuts and then pay millions of dollars to a fired coach.
Sure you can. Not saying it’ll happen but if CDC says we’re bringing in Urban, think he can convince some donors to cut a check right on the spot. Wouldn’t be the best look but who gives a $hit. The amount of money we are pumping into athletics needs a payoff.
The people that give a **** are the rest of the athletic department. Urban Meyer would be set up for failure when everyone else in the department is feeling betrayed - you're telling everyone they have to take paycuts while you said you needed to slash your budget and you're going to start paying TWO football head coaches huge amounts of money? Not going to happen unless UT athetic department wants to burn down even more. The problem is not the head coach anymore - the problems go way deeper, which is why Mack Brown, Charlie Strong, and now Tom Herman are all getting the same results. Same with Barnes and Smart. And doing this would just make it that much worse. https://www.hookem.com/story/202009...eductions-coaches-35-layoffs-result-covid-19/ University of Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte announced Tuesday he was slashing the department’s work force by 17.9%, cutting coaches’ salaries and eliminating bonuses after COVID-19 wrecked the Longhorns’ finances. The day many inside the athletic department feared came on the first day of a new fiscal year. The moves were designed to save the most financially-lucrative athletic department in America about $54.3 million — roughly a quarter of its annual revenues. Twenty-six contracted coaches and administrators “voluntarily agreed” to take temporary salary reductions through Aug. 31, 2021, including football coach Tom Herman who stands to lose $900,000 this season. Starting in mid-October, 274 athletic department employees will see pay cuts and 11 staffers will be temporarily furloughed with benefits. Also, 35 staff members were laid off and 35 more vacant positions were eliminated, Del Conte announced. A school spokesman said no other information was provided. The UT athletic department employed 390 staffers before Tuesday’s cuts. ...
Assuming Urban brings in a whole new staff, who exactly in the athletics department would be setting him up for failure? And wouldn’t the betrayal be on CDC? I get the optics and don’t think the thought crosses CDC’s mind unless it’s for Saban, Urban or Dabo. Obviously two of those do not have a chance and don’t think Urban is much more realistic but this conversation is much more fun than talking about actual UT football. Also what problems in tdo you think go deeper than the HCs we’ve hired as of late.
