A better question might've been (historically):

Who's better: James Harden or Patrick Ewing?

Comparing Jimmy to LBJ is awful

The thing that makes Lebron so great is that he is already blessed genetically then goes several steps farther to make sure he is even better. Harden all ready works WAY harder than most players in the NBA, but if you were to tell him that is not enough, he has to do even more to be the best, that's going to be a problem.

Some fans here think the same way when you argue that Harden should do more even though he is already doing everything.

Harden should have tried to recruit KD. But I’m sure he didn’t even try..pron so kd wouldn’t come and take HIS team.

I don't use that kind of derogatory language because my vocabulary extends past the empty words of a child. I wasn't conversing with you. Maybe you should converse with a special needs specialist because the type of language you just used illustrates that you have much to learn about people with disabilities and a lot to learn about empathy. I can't imagine what other words you use to call those who disagree with you.

Lebron is better...that is not a knock on Harden...Bron is in the GOAT convo for a reason

Lebron is the one who was blessed with incredible genetics...his athleticism is unmatched...he combines that athleticism with incredible IQ and a high skill level

he was hyped up as the chosen one coming out of HS for a reason

Harden was a relative unknown in HS, and nobody thought of him as an elite level prospect in the draft. Sh*t, look at many of the responses in the OKC trade thread. Many on here didn’t think he would be great. Nobody thought he would be MVP level or a generational scorer.

he’s come much farther than anyone ever thought possible...he doesn’t have Bron’s athleticism, KD’s height, or Steph’s shooting touch...he’s gotta rely on extreme skill and smarts

Bron is still the best player...that is a testament to his greatness

Harden is good enough to win a title if he’s given an actual championship caliber roster...Russ and scrubs with no big man ain’t close to being it

he could win with that Lakers roster

    just stop the stupidity

more like KD has no interest in playing in Houston or this organization

people on here will just make sh*t up, and then attack Harden based on the sh*t they manufactured...it’s a joke

    this is another joke post

Harden vs Lillard and CP3 aren’t arguments...they aren’t close to being his peers

Rockets fans get dumber every year

Harden gets doubled at half court because it's easy to double him at half court. LeBron can play off ball so he doesn't need to bring the ball up the court.

LeBron James is a better player than James Harden.

In reading through all your posts in this thread, you seem to be a LeBron hater. When someone disagrees with you and says that LeBron is better than Harden, you get really mad at them. I'm not sure why.

LeBron IS the best player on his team. The box score sees AD putting up all the stats, but without LeBron, this Lakers team with AD would look like another Pelicans' first round exit, much less a Finals contender.

Hypothetically, LeBron on a roster vs AD on the same roster? LeBron advances farther than AD.

When LeBron missed the playoffs (assuming you're talking about his first year in LA), their record was 20-14 before he had the groin injury. I think that's on pace for a 48-34 record - a tie for the 7th and 8th seeds that season, if everything stayed the same. What was the Pelicans' record that year when they had AD? Doesn't matter, because they didn't make the playoffs either. Just like the AD Pelicans only made the playoffs twice, in his 7 years there. TWICE.

They never had a fully healthy roster after LeBron got injured, since Lonzo, Ingram and Hart all had minor/major injuries throughout. Team completely fell apart without LeBron, which was expected.

You can say LeBron runs to a franchise and leaves behind complete garbage, sure. But he either gave that city his best shot and/or a title. Left Cleveland the first time? Can't say he didn't try his best with the garbage roster he was given. Left Miami? Heat got 2 titles. Left Cleveland again? Cavs got a title. If Harden and Westbrook won the championship this year and by some weird happenstance, Harden and Westbrook looks like complete crap the next X years, no one would be that mad at their contracts. Why? Because the city of Houston won.

LeBron James is a better player than James Harden.

Ah yes, like at the point when I called him the best or second best player of all time. Or like when I said he was still a superstar just not as good as Anthony Davis or James Harden.

    Reframe it.

I'm a James Harden fan. He's better in my eyes than LeBron today. LeBron doesn't have to carry the team. Other guys step up. MDA completely relied on Harden to do everything. Giannis was relied upon too heavily too and it bit the Bucks in the ass.

If I had to rate players based on who I would want on my team during the 2019-20 regular season / playoffs I would say.

    1. Giannis
    2. Harden
    3. AD
    4. Kawhi
    5. LeBron

LeBron has the ability to be better than any player in the league for stretches. He's the best out of the bunch historically but if he had the usage of Giannis or Harden during the regular season they would have been eliminated in the first round because he'd be out with an injury.

    https://stats.nba.com/players/usage/?sort=USG_PCT&dir=-1&Season=2019-20&SeasonType=Regular Season

he couldn't handle that wear and tear. Look at that list. LeBron has the luxury of not being involved at a historically high rate on every single play. It's what is allowing him to maintain his health on top of his state of the art training regime. He could be the best player of all time. that doesn't mean I have to think he's the best at this point in time.

Is that his fault? no. Vogel hasn't completely relied on him to get every single win for that team. I'm excited to see Harden take a bit of a smaller usage role next year, hopefully around 30% vs nearly 36%. Wait until you see how much better he is come playoff time. Maybe LeBron is "better" because his team is winning more but Harden was more "valuable" to his team and that's why I place him above LeBron for now.

Harden has been top 2 in usage in the past three seasons with MDA. He was #4 in MDA's first year. LeBron hasn't been top five in that same period and was only in the top 10 once in that same period. Harden is OVERUSED.

Rockets without Harden this year. Only win involved a MIRACLE game from EGO dropping 50+ in Utah.

    Lakers without LeBron this year.

Neither of these statements are true by any objective measure.

Listen man...I'm a Harden fan. I a Rockets fan. You don't have to try to convince me of his greatness. But I can at least be objective about his current situation.

Harden game 4: 20 points 10 assists% 47.6 TS: 53% Lebron same game: 16 points 9 assists 37 assist % , TS 43% So explain to me what your objective measure are?

What? DId Kawhi not just blow a 3-1 lead to a much inferior team??? Did he not post horrible numbers in losses in that series???? Go check those games and get back to me about who really "chocked" this post season though.

Even at this age, it's Lebron.

I'm a Laker hater and not a Lebron fan but even I'll admit he's played very well these playoffs. He still dunks effortlessly and can still turn on the jets when he needs to. Also, asides from being a player, he's god tier at acquiring superstar talent. As soon as Lebron got to LA, he probably pulled all the strings to get AD there.

Harden was only able to get 3 players who are out of their primes to join him in Houston.

If people want to believe this to be the facts, fine believe what you want but regardless it’s not how I would put it.

Harden gets doubled at halfcourt because if you don’t he will bend you over a barrel and will get to clapping cheeks.

There’s plenty of players in the league that would be easy to double. But it’s not necessary.

Switch Lebron and Harden and we would have the same results right now, Harden in the Finals and Lebron at home. Lebron didn't even make the playoffs last year, where was his vaunted leadership when other superstars are not carrying him?

It is only fair to compare players with at least 3 questions in mind.

    1) do they lead their teams win? and win the championship? this is team sports focusing on winning anyway.
    2) do they make their teammates better?
    3) personal stats.

there are too many Morey fans here looking only at individual data.
