Okay, so there’s a couple days until the ALDS, so why not have some fun? If you were a GM tasked with rebuilding an organization and could choose any four players to be the face of your team for the future (two pitchers, two position players), who would you take?

I went "modern era", and I was never told they had to be active.

And I cheated, those are the top 2 position players and pitchers in WAR post WWII. I never would have guessed Seaver.

Seaver’s longevity is over looked because of Nolan Ryan. Go look at his last year with the White Sox/Red Sox in his 40’s, he was still good.

He was drafted by the Dodgers and Braves. He was basically a Brave when the league voided they draft signing.

Yep, he's just one of those guys I don't think of when I think of historical badasses. But he was.

Yes he was. The original Tom Terrific. He had some great quotes also.

“I drink beer, I swear, but I keep my hair short, so I guess that makes me an All-American boy.”

“My job isn't to strike guys out, it's to get them out - sometimes by striking them out”

“If you don't think baseball is a big deal, don't do it. But if you do, do it right”
