Wasn't Ty Lue with the Clippers as an assistant this past season? Absurd to me that they would promote him.
Yes. Get the guy that choked away 3-1 series leads on loaded teams against the “great” basketball minds of Kevin McHale, Mike Malone and others.
MDA & Doc are wildly different coaches. It's clearer than ever to me that Brand has no idea what direction to take that team. They need to replace Brand first, then find a coach.
Supposedly, the main reason Doc was let go was because he insisted on playing Montrezl over Zubac in the playoffs, despite stats showing that they performed terribly with Trezl on the court and great with Zubac there instead. I don't see how the stench of that bad decision would affect Ty Lue, seeing how it was Doc's call to not bench the 6th Man of the Year when he absolutely should have. My guess is that Lue gets the job there.
Seems like with Kawhi The Bored Man it helps to have a stronger personality, like Kyle Lowry or various Spurs/popovich, to go along with him. I actually thought Doc made sense. He's a pretty big presence and good at getting greater than sum of parts type results. But, Ballmer inherited him 6 seasons ago, eventually you just make a change because you do.
76ers are formally wasted, formally, for any hope of championship. They needed to change their front office 2 seasons ago. something Rockets should do 4,5 years ago.
Here's the deal. This is all I personally needed. His son knows this organization and Doc is willing to sit down something Thibs in 2016, LeBron, and KD would not do this despite having strong connections to this team. Whether he comes or whether we choose him is no longer an issue. He is a clear favorite for the 76ers job and he's entertaining the Rockets.
