    I can't really contribute much to this thread with personal experience, but in my background machinations to deceive you all into thinking I could, I did come across what seems like a pretty good article on the topic. There are plenty of car song lists out there, but this one actually seems surprisingly well thought out with plenty of artists I never knew wrote songs about cars. What I like even more is that it lists all the songs chronologically, split up into decades, starting with the 50s. Nice touch.
