Agree, there is only going forward, but I rather not based on hope and see something concrete. Given past history of how difficult it is to pass legislation on major health reform and that EO can’t do it, plus no replacement plan for the last 8-10 years since republican has complained about ACA, I don’t think there is anything at all. I think if Trump win, there is a very good chance that if ACA is thrown out by the SC, he would just let it be. Let the market decide own it’s own. Chaos and lots of people losing or can’t get new health coverage will likely be the result. That might even be the plan - just let the market decide.

 

Fact is that Obamacare lowered health care costs and had more people covered.

I'm for letting the markets decide and being able to sell insurance across state lines should help lower costs.

What I'm not for is govt mandated insurance.

 

Selling insurance across state lines won't do crap. Would a person in Houston drive to Oklahoma for an appointment because of cheaper insurance? The idea is pretty crappy.

 

Nope but an insurance company could have a physician in Houston perform a physical and send the results back to Oklahoma. Competition lowers costs of things.

There is no evidence that selling insurance across state lines will increase competition let alone reduce prices. In fact a study by the Commonwealth Fund disproved this.
