Adults would all do better if we would truly understand the meaning of the phrase "respectfully disagree".

We should listen to others and try to understand their perspective. We should listen to their answers and we should ask questions respectfully and in ways that aren't attacking, assuming, or manipulating. We should not try to force the other person to agree with us. If we disagree with them, we should do so respectfully and explain our perspective, and they should listen to us, trying to understand.

    COMMUNICATION IS A FOUR-WAY STREET
    1. How I communicate to another person
    2. How the other person receives my communication
    3. How another person communicates to me
    4. How I receive the other person's communication

Look, it is not a liberal/conservative thing.

It is a "How can anyone support that racist *******!" thing.......

For many of us, there is no supporting a man who has been accused of pedophilia - 13 year old girl, has stolen money from a children's charity (convicted and fined), created a fake university (convicted and fined) and so much else.

It is inconceivable that anyone with a modicum of intelligence can support Trump.

It is NOT inconceivable that someone is a conservative and wants smaller government and less social programs - one is a platform up for proper debate, the other is a budding Autocrat that is frankly just a crook.

That is the problem here, it is not liberal vs conservative, it is Trump is an ******* why does my dad support such a terrible human being, thing.

Dude I feel you and that sucks.

Thanks for posting in here. Bottom line is you need to find a way to get her to understand family is more important than politics. And that is it.

We may disagree, but we all love each other, etc.

And that's all she wrote. Good Luck man...

    Agreed.

I hope Biden wins specifically so you can see the fallout from that.

Geezus christ people. Politics are more important than a relationship with your daughter, and visa versa?

Tell the liberal one to try to pay more than the minimum every month on her loans.

Tell the youngest that she did a good job choosing an affordable school.

Take them to the Caribbean for Christmas.

In your eyes, has Trump done nothing good for America?

What do your kids like to do for free time? Etsy? Instaface?

Btw would you care to tell me a great broccoli casserole recipe?

If you ever need any help fixing your rocking chair, I know a guy.

    Don't even bother man....

DaDakota is like Goldie Hawn, we used to tolerate her when she was like an 8/10. That was 158 years ago.

You've already gotten a lot of good advice. I'll just Nth the idea to not bring up politics too much with them.

The oldest, our daughter, is a software developer making 6 figures. Our son is a graphic designer. They both play PC and video games. A lot. My daughter is also into anime and reads it in Japanese. Pretty crazy. I don't have a rocking chair, but I do have a cane. I don't always have to use it.

I am sure your preference and opinion bolded there is no secret to the elder daughter.
Even your initial painting of your daughters shows that
You could have said. . . one is a liberal and one is a conservative
    but
you went above and beyond to paint one as the mature bootstrapper that will goto tech school with no debt
    and
the other the privileged liberal arts major with debt and and a near freeloader.

While I am sure you did it for context . .. it definitely comes off as you legit have a favorite

That said. . . . . I am sure your sociology major can back up all her points with charts, graphs and studies
but that is nothing in a conversation

Honestly .. . . .you will have to simply agree to disagree.
I would say avoid the topic at all costs . . . no good will come of it
and you will marginalize or cause a schism in the family.

they near grown . . .. you won't change their minds. . and they won't change yours
Respect each other's opinions and move on . . .and don't speak on it.
