We've been waiting for GOP Senators to start worrying about their own self-interests for a while now, they fear Trump. Putin will make it so they REALLY fear Trump. You're underestimating Putin, Putin knows a few Senators, his influence in the USA extends beyond Trump... Why isn't more of the GOP doing more to keep Russia out of our elections for example? We didn't nickname him Moscow Mitch for nothing.

They are not doing more because they want 4 more years of trump and if they get it they have gotten all they can get out of him, Pence can do that just as well. I think you give Putin far to much power and his ability to change things structurally. Why has Putin not gotten more accomplished?
Because republicans think with their pockets and once it starts affecting them and there sponsors they will throw him overboard. Cruz is another story.
Why would they turn to Pence? The GOP base loves Trump, the entire GOP right now is a cult of Trump. They turn on Trump they will lose any future elections even if they are rigged. The conservative populace is married to Trump and if he wins, Trump will try to get a third term and if not one of his children will win. All Trump has to do is threaten their power, which is easy for him to do and he knows how to do it. He'll put NATO on the board and he'll say anyone that doesn't vote for pulling out is out of here. Just like he usually does. That GOP Senator gets primaried, loses his seat, and Trump gets what he wants...oh and this happens more easily because voting rights will be under attack thanks to the 6-3 SCOTUS court. All Trump has to do is sell his base on it. That's easy too, he'll just pass it off as some patriotic thing that the USA doesn't need NATO and should not be paying for it. The USA has already been pulling itself out of international agreements and stuff since Trump took office. We have pulled out of Syria pretty much, remember that? Leaving allies behind to fend for themselves and how that upset even the GOP Senators and what did they do about it? Nothing. CIA says Russia interferes with our election? What did the Senate do about it? Nothing. They will hem and haw about it. A few of them will make strong statements about it. But if Trump gets another mandate I'm sure it'll happen or he'll move around the senate and make it ineffective. Putin has got a ton accomplished, at least in terms of what he wants, he's a former intelligence agent himself and this is what he does. Look at what happened to Ukraine for example.
Say what you want about Trump but the one thing he knew to do right away was gain leverage over, and bend the corporate world to support him. This is exactly what happens in basically every country with an autocrat. Trump openly aspires to this. Bend the business world to prop him up. Trump is nothing without Rupert Murdoch and Mark Zuckerberg. The two guys who run the media world in which Trump is allowed to cultivate his cult. In return they are getting ALOT. Zuckerberg especially. And this is happening in virtually every major industry. Energy, Industrial, Manufacturing, etc. All of those CEO's from the beginning were brought in to kiss the ring in exchange for tax cuts, and de-regulation. I'm just really sort of surprised that you of all people don't believe that this has and is continuing to happen. Who do you think funds the Ted Cruz's of this world who support his campaign, and set him up with cushiony lobbying gigs if he gets voted out for voting on the wrong things for citizens that the corporate elite want badly?? This isn't just a Ted Cruz problem. It's the entire Republican party, and even some Democrats. And I HOPE I'm wrong, but I don't think for one minute that these corporate Oligarchs give a damn about democracy, and most of them don't care about the ramifications of pulling out of NATO and the major re-alignment that would cause which could lead to a cold war or a cyber war or worse. Sure they would like for the US to call itself a Democracy, but if they can make more money under a thug like Putin or Erdogan or Trump, almost every single one of them (sans maybe Bill Gates, and a few others) would support Trump in doing what he needs to do to retain power and keep a pesky socialist like Bernie Sanders or AOC from getting voted in to raise their taxes to the point where they would have to be worth only 10 billion instead of 12 billion. As long as Trump isn't chopping heads off in the streets I frankly don't think they give a damn.

After watching history of WWII and Hitler's life, I find myself amazed at the similarities. Trump’s first wife, Ivana, stated Trump kept and studied a copy of Hitler’s speeches, Neither Trump nor Hitler ever admitted a mistake and both responded to criticism with insults and name calling. Both used low forms of language, simple sentences so even a person with a low level education would understand. Hitler’s Nazi Party offered inexpensive radios for direct propaganda communication to the German people. Trump has Rupert Murdock’s Fox News, Sinclair, Twitter, Russian trolls/bots (Facebook) and Chinese’ Epoch News. The goal of both is/was to convince the public that their lies were the truth. Trump offers a steady diet of fear, greed, loathing, lies and envy, Hitler and Trump both used closing borders (“build the wall”), scapegoating, short-term economic gain, xenophobia and racism to convince their countrymen that government is the problem. Trump has decimated and/or slandered much of the State Department, the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Agriculture scientists, Justice system, the rule of law, the FBI and the CIA. I was thinking the same thing after reading Spearhead and A Higher Call by Adam Makos. Both books give gripping stories from WWW II, following the lives of the men serving on both sides of the war. Spearhead follows tank gunners and A Higher Call follows fighter pilots. Both books give a real insight into the depths Hitler went with his lies, propaganda, and fear mongering. Some of the things he did to stir up hate and fear reminded me so much of Trump it was scary. I gained a better understanding of the way so many young Germans soldiers were forced into a war for a Nazi party they didn't believe in, and for a ruler who never won their vote, nor the vote of the majority of the people. Adam Makos' books are based on countless hours of interviews from the veterans themselves, and extensive historical research on exact dates, times, etc..from events in his stories.
Under Obama I was able to get some money back with my taxes, since I had the ability to write stuff off such as home, computers, etc.. Under Trump it's been a nightmare... Actually paying back to the Government... T_Man
