Why did morey not re-sign Dragic instead of signing a bum like Jeremy scrub Lin who is so atrocious that no one wanted to sign him anymore all the while Dragic is a all star and one of the best players in the playoffs.... This is a huge black mark on Moreys resume
Jeremy Lin had the Linsanity stretch and was extremely popular at the time....the Rockets were irrelevent...the Rockets were “China’s team”...Lin was Asian
Morey's biggest blunder is not trading Harden and Westbrook next season for young talent and picks since we will never win a ring with these two taking up the cap space and the goal is not to just be in the playoffs, but to win a ring.
Let's play woulda, coulda, shoulda. Hindsight is sometimes fun. We should of offered a 720p 80" Dynex
So let's get all the people you blame besides Daryl Moreyball: -Les Alexander -Tilman Fertitta -Mike Dantoni -Adam Silver -China -Dmo's agent BJ Armstrong
1) I saw a thing 2) I have an opinion about it 3) I go to clutchfans and say it 4) I remove all thinking 5) I stick by what I say 6) I pat self on back 7) I get snack pack out and lick the delicious chocolate or vanilla off lid 8) I don't throw away snack pack, I let it collect with other items like it on computer desk 9) I look to see if there's another thing
Should've saved that ryno money instead of living that stretch four dream of a Kevin love type player. I think Morty gets too invested in the undervalued money ball trend and overpays for age once the league catches up to his thinking. I guess because there's more data/sample size? But that's prob the most nit picky move out of a series of entertaining team building that had no luxury of lotto picks or Kevin Durant wanting to be a whiny b**** and flip the league upside down. Not even ryno would expect he'd regress so much mentally and physically...
Don't think KL was a stretch 4, although he might be able to. Anderson's quick release and overall mobility is comparable to Gallanari while Loves game was closer to Griffin's but with more rebound efficiency and shooting.
Just look at the GARM around when Dragic left and you will find out why he left. From my unreliable memory, he wanted an N years contract and Morey wanted to give him an N -1 year contract.
Love had post moves and got boards but I never thought he wanted to work inside the trenches night in night out. Seemed like he was content firing threes or deep jumpers so he wouldn't break down mid season. I think his solid passing deepened that impression for me
people say a lot of things. In five years if the Rockets never win people will scream this from the rooftop. If the Rockets win a ring, not trading Harden this whole time and Moreyball working becomes the narrative. It’s hard to run a team, it’s easy to have an opinion.
Nature of the game right? One winner, everyone wants to win. If the team doesn’t win, it’s viewed as a failure. A championship would probably satiate the majority of fans for about 5 years. Then the cycle would begin anew.
The play was for Lowry who got hurt, which allowed Dragic to shine in his absence. Morey pitted each against each other as leverage to get cost down (yes even back then cost was important). Morey couldn’t get Dragic to come down to what the Rockets were willing to pay him. Rockets then turned to Lowry. Problem was Lowry was insulted by that time seeing the Rockets were trying to replace him with his sub. Either Lowry left in free agency or demanded trade/holdout........to this I can’t remember which. Lin was plan C. But I say Harden might not be a Rocket if not for Lin.....which attracted the China viewing market. It’s all about negotiations. Sometimes the matador wins, sometimes the bull wins.....in steps another bull. I remember when our matador was negotiating with Parsons, and lost him......then Ariza stepped in.
