Hard reset means putting a light on white collar crime, prosecuting them and passing laws to reform congress and the executive...Swamp draining everyone agrees with but never follow through. I don't think that was in any candidate's agenda, unless you count putting Hillary and Obama in jail, then not following through because it worked better as a foil and slogan. Trump might be bad, but the reality is that it's incredibly difficult under current laws to prosecute him or a shitbag CEO or investment banker. Dems didn't want to disown Bob Menendez who got off corruption charges on technicalities and prosecutorial incompetence. There's a lot of garbage to clean, but we're still okay with accepting that there's an easier answer or that one person will fix everything for "their side".
Whoever commands the army, navy, and marines. At some point the generals will do what they can to avoid violence even if it means giving Trump the power of the military to stay in power. It’s inevitable where we are headed.
I believe it would be a wise move for Democrats to work with the Republican Senate to get a moderate appointed before the election. The reality is Trump has a better chance of winning 2020 than 2016. What the Democrats do not need at this point is to give undecided voters a reason to vote for Trump. If the appointment is a non issue, they will be more likely to stay home or vote Biden. If the appointment is still open, this will energize the right. If the appointment is not settled before the election, I predict the Senate will go to the Republicans (and we will still get a moderate) with the presidency as a toss up.
He is the same person who posted this. "It is inevitable...my only hope is her last cold moments and her final seconds is in the stark realization that She would be replaced by Trump. " Don't fall for it.
I guess some wiseness if the seat was a tiebreaker, but let's say you fill a moderate, then what? Lose important decisions 5-4 more often than 6-3? **** that, we already have Roberts "swing moderate" as the "soooo close 5-4" Scott Foster fixer. You have a point that Republicans typically care about SCOTUS appointments more than Dems, but I don't think this is a normal year and the "radical leftist" movements that have sprung up in the past 4 years has mostly been in response to putt putt Potus and any signs of "Establishment Democrat" appeasement. Her death seems more of a catalyst than a changing wind. If anything, Scalia's death was the real difference maker.
This is a wise take. We should work with each other and that’s really what will make America great. People think compromise and getting along is a weakness , when the real weakness is not listening or talking to each other . We seen evidence of people losing emotions, calling names and being quick to assume without dialogue ...that is the true weakness . We need to remember the human connection to each other.
Yes and I explained that is something any of us would feel IF we were in her place. Don’t let your heart be troubled What I take enjoyment in is watching people assume... Did I not say this was so sad and it is. She died. But also the people spoke by electing Trump and spoke by having a republican senate... when I said I hope the last moments she had was her knowing that trump would replace her , absolutely...this is reality because if I was in her place or any of you were in her place...tell me I’m wrong if THAT didn’t go in your mind. I like to see those that lose control, call me names, put me on iggy. That says more about them than me. It shows weakness and emotional vulnerability...their is a old saying love or hate me , I have won either way
It’s a take devoid of any facts. Yes Trump can still win but there’s no polling data that supports any theory that Trump has an easier path to victory.
As if you ever had a point? You got about 2 more months of owning the libs, enjoy. You are really a sad individual.
It is inevitable...my only hope is her last cold moments and her final seconds is in the stark realization that She would be replaced by Trump. What does this statement say about you? Anything to get a reaction right?
I notice a trend, the liberal posters who get emotional, nope I’m happy it’s the weekend, I’m happy for the opportunity for a new conservative SCJ , but I am truly sad Ruth died but I’ll get over it . My point is those that get emotional, call names , etc, are those more likely to see compromise as a weakness and a unwillingness to work with those you disagree with politically. as a activist judge, Ruth had to have that thought process that her replacement would be decided by Trump that may go completely against her ideology . Tell me I’m wrong. You can’t . ...maybe if she was more moderate this thought process wouldn’t be in her mind but because she made a point to be a strong left leaning judge she put her ideology on the table when her life ended. Space ghost brought up a good point. If it was one of the more moderate judges that died, would the replacement issue be as contentious? I think not
