Even though it won't change what happens with Ginsburg's seat this makes winning the Senate even more important this election. Any discussion about packing the courts or even passing legislation to address things being held up or blocked in the judicial branch won't matter if the Senate is still GOP.

Rest in Peace, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. You lived a full life. Prayers for the well-being of her family and loved ones.

Amy Coney Barrett - let's nominate and confirm her NEXT WEEK.

As crass as it is to even speculate now, Mitch trying to ram a justice through offers a chance at a better long term fix for Democracy.

The court as currently constituted is an anchor, even RBG had made it. Another stolen seat gives us the votes and the fire to enlarge and reform it.

Oh yeah he's definitely getting someone through. He's already said so and there are no sitting Republican senators that will oppose it. Not even Mitt Romney.

I just think he's going to be smart enough to know he doesn't have to do anytime soon. With an 8 person court the conservatives still hold the majority if he's concerned about another Bush v Gore situation.

Mitch should be tried as a traitor, Obama not ramming Garland through was his biggest failure.

I highly doubt Trump will nominate Tom Cotton or Cruz or any other sitting Senator. This is one area where I will agree with Trader Jorge that I think it's most likely Amy Barrett. I think a lot of list had her up there for the Scalia opening and it looks like Kavanaugh was chosen mainly for his position on Presidential power at a time when the Mueller Report had just come out.

Obama couldn't because he didn't have the Senate. Republicans have the Senate now and are able to do it.

Wow, what a sick thing to say about anyone! The lack of remorse from Trump and MAGA cult following about people dying is really sad and heartless.

How was he supposed to accomplish that? Democrats didn't have a majority...

Obama certainly could have made a stronger push to have garland confirmed. The senate delayed because they knew they didn’t have a good reason not to confirm him. Would’ve been near unanimous

I think there is a gov funding bill coming up. I would definitely not fund the govt over this and hold that until there’s agreement to not move fwd on filling the seat.

I think that is a very real possibility.

That said this is a very risky move for both parties. Given that we still have a pandemic going on with a lot of people suffering government is still a major part of our economy. If we shut down government and get nothing passed now including possibly another COVI-19 stimulus bill over filling Ginsburg's seat how willl the voters react?

Trump is down right now largely because of the terrible job he is doing not because ideologically the country is swinging Left. People like in the Lincoln Project and many independents weren't fans of RBG like Democrats were. If the feeling a week or two from now is that Democrats are willing to burn it down I'm so sure that those people will be so understanding.

Reminds me of this line in Chris Rock’s stand up.

“Well, Trump’s a bad person. He’ll get his.” You know, some people never get theirs. Some people just fail up. People are like, “What goes around, comes around.” No, it don’t. Sometimes, it’s just keeps goin’ around. Ain’t nothin’ gonna happen to Trump. Nothing’s gonna happen to Trump.”

There's actually already one. Murkowski. If Collins wants to take a last shot at saving her campaign there's 2. Then you need Mitt. But, I wouldn't bet on it.

Best course is reform. Best way to get reform is another stolen seat.

I don’t believe that. The more people you screw, the more you have against you.
