Giannis is a rich man's Westbrook. So we'd have two versions of Westbrook, or two versions of Giannis, depending on how you look at it. That would be very exciting. Tilman can be both a rich man and a broke man.
Can't compete with that though. IMO this is different, everyone expects him to go to GSW while Durant shocked about everyone outside of the Dub nation.
Dribbling the ball with pace is very very very hard to do. Very hard. There is speed and then there is speed with the ball. That's\ a skill Westbrook has, rebounding, another skill that he has, finishing, another skill that he has. These are skills. For Giannis, defense is a skill, he's one of the best at it. At his height, dribbling is harder, he's good at that, compared to most guys his height? Amazing at it.
No westbrick does not have that skill. He can't do both at the same time. finishing? Hasn't looked that way this year, especially in the last 2 months. When is he going to finish a jumpshot? Oh never amazing right. how's that working out for him if it isn't a open fast break.
He actually reminds me of a more athletic and agile Kevin Garnett with a broke shot. Still shoots better than Westbrook.
Westbrook is fast with the ball, one of the fastest? He's led the league in fast break points I know a few times so yeah...he can dribble with speed and finish. Also, Lebron James can't really shoot either but that worked out for him. There's tons of players in NBA history that get by without shooting become MVPs, champions, all time players. People on this forum WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overrate shooting, as if it is the only thing that matters when there's defense, rebounding, low post play, passing, ball handling, and people here will say a player is trash just because he can't shoot but he can do everything else. Giannis can still get a lot better too. I don't think he should even work that much on his outside shooting, might not be a thing he can ever get down, but he can work on his low post game definitely. Giannis just needs to have a go to ISO move, that's really all he's missing. He's young enough to get that and he works hard enough that I believe he can do it.
So now Lebron can't shoot. where do people come up with some up of this stuff. No people don't overrate shooting. It's something you have to do at least at a respectable level to be relevant especially when you're supposed to be one of the core players. Westbrick can't do a lot of those things you just listed. that's why hes trash, especially next to harden
The dribbling fast with the ball doesn't work that much in the Playoffs, you got tons more mistakes.....and better Defense. Lebron has become a 35% long range shooter most of the time, it's not ideal but it's not a flaw no more.
Nope. He is not going to get traded willingly and if so his new team will receive no assurances of resigning and will end up regretting it.
Yeah, teams will literally leave Lebron open sometimes, in fact, we did it more than a few times. Shooting has always been the weakest part of his game. Also, again, Westbrook literally lead the league in fastbreak points. You hate the guy so much you actually think a HOF player has never been good at basketball. I mean, you can't even put respect on his name and mock his name at every chance. Give him no credit for past accomplishments. The man is a HOF player, first ballot, easy. He's not a garbage player.
It works. We're basically talking about fast break points, Lebron also is one of the best at fast break, it's great to get scores without the defense setting up. Westbrook has had a really bad year with things he's usually great at. There's a lot of reasons for that, but people give him 0 excuses and excuse literally every other player on the team and just scapegoat him for everything that's ever gone wrong with the team.
weakest part of his game, yet it's still respected and can kill you with it. Has absolutely 0 correlation with westbrick leading the league in fastbreaks means nothing when he can't do anything else.
But it's not something you're worried about. If a team defends Lebron and all he does is shoot outside shots, the team will say "Good, that's good." Meanwhile, teams will do everything they can to make sure Curry/Harden/Dame don't even put the ball above their heads to think about shooting. I think the overall point is he was never really a shooter, his skills are everywhere else. It's sort of Magic Johnson like. The point being is that you don't have to be a great shooter to dominate the game, especially when you're that big. When you're that big and athletic, shooting is really a bonus. I think some guys will never become better shooters too, it's an arm thing, their arms aren't built for it. Too strong, too long, just makes it harder for them and it can be a mental thing too. That's why I think Giannis is fine, he doesn't need to become this long range guy, if he had a go-to post move he'd be able to carry his teams a lot better.
