republican congressional candidates see it more important to align with Biden than to attack him...

GOP congressional candidates don’t get the memo on attacking Biden
In races featuring progressive Democrats, Republicans are even subtly praising the former VP for his pragmatism on health care.

It may seem odd but that is knowing your district. There are Republicans running in districts that Biden might carry so it makes sense they will not seek to portray themselves as anti-Biden.

Both parties had done this including in 2017 when Conor Lamb said he wouldn’t always support Pelosi and might not even vote for her for Speaker

I’m on my phone so not posting the whole text.

Trump says now “now I can be really vicious”
Again no desire to try to unite the country. Trump likes to compare himself to Lincoln but even Lincoln tried to unite the country before the Civil War started. Trump has far more in common with Jefferson Davis, and I’m not just making a trite comment that he is a racist but that it’s clear he doesn’t see himself as being the leader of the whole country.

Yep, he's always been a lying con. The difference now is his lying and reckless behavior is far more dangerous.

Shocking... republicans spreading lies and disinformation in support of trump... and when confronted, excuse it by saying "well, both sides do it", yet can't name when or how Democrats do it...

We have evidence that Trump knows how serious this is yet he doesn't care. He is willing to risk and potentially sacrifice many of his supporters.

That is impressive, that is a whole lot of middle aged and older white people.

    The election will be interesting.

There is no doubt that there are more people that hate Trump than love him, but his supporters are passionate.

He cannot make it any more clear that he does not care, and to many of his supporters he is fine with it.

He told his supporters to mail in vote and then try to vote in person.

He recently said he now can be vicious.

He has made it clear what he thinks of checks and balances and the extent of Executive power.

He said that he will go for a third term.

He has his surrogate Roger Stone talking about martial law being necessary to ensure Trump is President.

No........ he does not care and 40% of the USA does not care.

I had a discussion with a political science professor from Northwestern the other day....... he is very moderate, and has voted for Republicans over half the time. He is someone that most people would find quite moderate, and reasonable. We were discussing just how incredibly fast Trump has been working at destabilizing the government checks and balances, and handling the media through his surrogates. In last than 5 years we have gone from a nation where the idea of a candidate either refusing to leave office or involved in compromising the election was NEVER a thought, to a world where very mild and typically reasonable people now are genuinely concerned to some degree that the sitting President will not leave office or will lie and manipulate election results. That is an amazing fall in less than half a decade.

Worse yet, it just progresses and nothing happens. There is no real accountability. Is this is the new normal for future President's?

Trump has exposed how much our Constitutional and ethical norms were only maintained voluntarily. While we might not get another President that combines all of the traits of Trump I can definitely seeing other Presidents following Trump in bending those norms.

I think one of the most damaging things out of the Trump Presidency is how Barr has bent the DOJ to the will of the President. Even during Nixon we saw there were those in the DOJ would resisted making the dept. a personal tool of the President. We saw this too with GW Bush where John Ashcroft from his hospital bed refused to compromise the integrity of the DOJ. With Barr though we see him all in on the idea that the AG is the president's personal attorney.
