JVG is possibly the slowest pace offensive coach in NBA history. You really wanna go back to scoring 80pts a game? Also if you think MDA doesn't develop young players, you'll have a stroke with JVG. He is the absolute WORST option for this team

You're mistaken for the Adelman era.

In the JVG/Yao/McGrady era, they made the playoffs 2 out 3 years and both Yao and McGrady were fully healthy in those playoffs.

Great, someone needs to clash with Harden...btw JVG never clashed with TMac, he coddled him.

Doesn’t matter who the coach is as long as the roster is filled with quitters who don’t mesh

I think the idea is having a coach who actually holds players accountable means maybe they won't be quitters.

Roster is a complete cluster, everyone is saying Westbrook is un tradeable, but i have faith in Morey to pull something off. I think most of this team is gone. If Harden is still upset and he wants Westbrook gone this year and we can't move him, then why wouldn't Harden be traded as well? Is it completely out of the question that we just don't blow it all up this year? There is no way we come back with the same core and just swap coaches and think everything changes? I would think you pick the right coach depending on the roster you have, which we don't even know what it'll be. Just curious what Harden's thoughts are since he will likely be driving the direction of the franchise.

This is the hail mary. Can't run it back. I also can't imagine Tillman fronting the bill for a good coach when he is bleeding money.

Fair chance this team is blown up because of Tillman.

In what world does anyone in this thread thing that JVG would be implementing his offense from 15 years ago? They arent gonna stop shooting 3s if hes the coach. The offense is what morey wants the offense to be.

Considering he could diagnose the problems from the press box...

Don’t matter who’s the coach if you have a 6’4 center you’re not winning s***.

I agree, the offense isn’t going to drastically change as this is a veteran team. However it would be nice to have a coach that would add wrinkles to the existing offense. That is something Kenny Atkinson could do. I suppose a solution could be to bring in Alvin Gentry as an associate head coach.

JVG hasn’t coached in 15 years. He would likely improve the defense but a lot of the schemes he ran are dated now.

What JVG would likely do well is establish a culture for the Rockets which they clearly need.
