    https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/additionaldata.aspx

The excel files are there for the data for each area in Texas

The thread fell off because people cared more about pushing agendas rather than keeping those out of this thread. It would have been nice if we kept sticking to data and information about what is going on.

Personally I still read through all the numbers daily, I do have a difficult time trusting the numbers in Texas after seeing how they were leaving out tons of test results, and had some inconsistencies in data, and of course seemed to suddenly slow testing numbers significantly.

Honestly, I think it fell off in part b/c it's so damned depressing right now, and we aren't learning a lot of new things about the virus.

I could post more about how aerosols look very important (versus droplets), but that's super depressing for any indoor activity, as in: good luck with that six feet and masks thing if you're hanging out with people in any space that isn't vigorously ventilated.

Mhmm. Y'all tend to forget how this went down.

"Experts said we were going to lose 5.5 Million people in the US. This was after Trump had already restricted travel from China, which Democrats mocked him for. It was then highly advised that we lockdown everything for two weeks to "slow the spread." Then that was moved to 6 weeks. During that time Trump moved the Mercy and Comfort ships to New York which the media mocked him for saying he couldn't move them that fast. (He did.) Then Cuomo, with ships in port, ordered Covid positive nursing home folks BACK into their nursing homes. Knowing now that the nursing homes are the one place Covid can be pretty deadly, a lot of folks died due to his bumbling.

But the point was after 6 weeks the numbers were nowhere near the "Pandemic" that we were warned about and never came close to it. And now we know that the risk of a person under 55 with no major health issues is around 1 in 25,000. Yet we are still fumbling around figuring out what to do.

    It's time to move on.

Yeah I've been following the slow acceptance of spread by aerosol for a while. It sucks but does explain a lot.

I actually stopped following covid news about 2 weeks ago. I don't feel like I've missed out on anything. It's exhausting and doesn't impact my everyday one way or another since we're already socially distant.

Just wondering, how many lives would you have liked to lose before this inconvenience was acceptable?

People seem to be willing to sacrifice everyone over 55 now to carry on with their daily lives.

You are old and you have diabetes? Suck for you. Good luck with that COVID 19 stuff.

Because of work I interact with many youths nowadays (with masks). So for their protection and for mine, I headed out to Minute Maid for free testing the other day. Damn, that was easy. On site registration, stay in your car, cheek swab, results in a day or two. No line.

Under the definition, the Flu is still a Pandemic. Were you aware of that?

Covid deaths so far is 192,000 (and has declined drastically since April)
People aged 55 and up in the US is 96,510,000
    92% of 192,000 is 176,640

That means chances someone has died over 55 of this disease is still less than 1 in 2,000.

Also, deaths in 2018 of people age 55+: 19,787,325. So Covid deaths have increased the mortality in people above age 55 by .89%...

This also isn't a zero sum game. Murders, Suicides, deaths due to stroke and heart attacks have vastly spiked due to people afraid to go to hospitals due to Covid? Not to mention the lost jobs and businesses shuttered during this?

This is all awful info. The chances of someone under 55 with no major health issues dead from this is 1 in 25,000.

Did you care to think maybe the deaths are not as high BECAUSE we quarantined?

Can you link a source for the 19 million deaths for 55+ in 2018? That seems way too high for just the US.

This National Vital Statistics Report for year 2017 shows that total deaths in the US in 2017 is 2.81 million. So the increased mortality rate from covid19 for 55+ is probably 10x the 0.89% number you estimated.

Looking the provisional death counts from 2/1/20 to 9/9/20 from the CDC, 1.65million 55+ year olds died in that time period. Out of those 1.65 million, 161k were covid-19 deaths. That's 9.7% of the deaths. Of course some of those people could've died in that time period without covid19, but the impact of covid19 on 55+ mortality rate is still multiple times higher than 0.89%.
