He’s a 25 year old, in his prime, elite pass rusher.

    Those aren’t magically available.

Sure, he wasn’t the #1 overall pick in the draft... but you don’t get to keep using that to overvalue Clowney. He is who he is... currently unemployed and no team is going to bend over backwards to accommodate him.

An elite pass rusher who has had exactly one season with double digit sacks?

Like I said, Yannick is very good and still has a ton of room for potential. But he is nowhere near the level of guys like Aaron Donald, JJ, Mack, Von Miller, etc...who were/are true elite defensive players. Clowney and Yannick are much closer comparisons than Yannick with any of the aforementioned guys.

He has the plus of having upside and not being past his prime... unlike all of the above players you’ve mentioned, including Clowney.

Clowney was never an above average pass rusher who never had double digit sacks... and will never be one... thus ends this discussion.

Wait so Yannick is even more elite than Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack? Dang.

The Clowney trade could be more valuable depending on Martin.

Im with you on Clowney. I don't care about run stopping in 2020. You have to get to the qb or be ray lewisir, LT or Damascus which be is neither of

That being he did look exceptional in Seattle's prime time games imo. Im surprised he can't get $18 million.

Apparently a super bowl contender was bending over backwards trying to get Clowney.

Bending over backwards by not going a dime over 13 mil. Didn’t think the 15 mil the titans offered was worth it. Either way neither one of them close to the 18 mil clowney wanted... which is why Seattle didn’t keep him and neither did we.

that being said, I would have taken him at 15 if we had the money.

I was talking about the Saints. Who in their right mind thinks the Titans are superbowl contenders?

i know, the not going over 13 mil is what was reported the saints offered. So the super bowl contenders were bending over backwards offering only 13 mil. I feel like they could have done more if they really wanted him.

Dude! They didn't have cap space. Thats why they were trying the trade route so some other team would eat up the "bonus" for a draft pick. They were trying to bend the rules to get him.

And you think the saints are super bowl contenders??

    49ers
    Seahawks
    Green Bay
    Vikings

are all better then the saints imo.

49ers are the only most would agree with. The rest are debatable and the Packers are laughable. Saints have the best offense of that bunch and their defense is respectable.

Edit: Not to mention a SB-winning coach

I can think of one poster who loves their QB and would place them as a contender.

I expect the Seahawks and to a lesser extent the Vikings to take a step back. Seattle still has a bad OLine, no run game, and growing incompetence at the coaching level and Kirk Cousins is the worst nationally televised game QB of all time. Saints are still live but that division is one of the best in the league.

Did they really now? They didn’t even get him. If they offered a mere 2 years, he’d be theirs.

Their holding firm is almost the exact opposite of bending over backwards.

And by acccomodating him, I meant a team giving into his contract demands of $18-21 million per, which is what kept him on the market this long. In the end, he had to settle (while firing his agent).
