How did these games effect anything in the long term? How is the season any more over than it was 48 hours ago? The team has issues, but these games individually really aren't important. The division is still ass, and we'll be in the playoffs. Some of the reactions I'm seeing are frankly absurd considering all the injuries and amount of true rookies we are being forced to play.
It's the Angels man. We shouldn't be losing 3 out of 4 or 4 out of 4 to these guys. Time to move on for 2021.
These 3 games against the Angels have been the most complete, pathetic ****-show I have seen since 2013. Baker is an absolute atrocity. People acting like we have second place tied up need to realize we are now 5-12 in road games, and we are only playing 6 real home games the rest of the year. This is getting ugly fast.
I guess I didn't realize that was the rule there. When I think of a GRD I think of a ball bouncing into the stands. Isn't the wall there all attached? Nevertheless, can't the umpire determine the runner on first would have scored anyway and rewarded the run? AND REGARDLESS, it wouldn't have ****ing mattered anyway. Can't believe that garbage that was on display last night.
I'm honestly surprised too that an almost all rookie bullpen has done this well so far. It's tough. Because at the same time you don't want to trade the farm for a rental pitcher necessarily either. The veterans we do have mostly suck, lol. You've got Pressly and that's about it.
Peacock is going to prove to be very valuable Can they overcome Dusty's ineptness? I will always ask what would Luhnow have done at the trade deadline? One thing that I know Luhnow wouldn't have done is hire Dusty freaking Baker. Thanks Crane, Manfred etc...
Agreed. If you're really that emotionally invested in this season, everybody should realize that they're virtually guaranteed to make the playoffs... and likely will have a more favorable first round matchup as a #2 seed than they would as a division winner (see playing the AL central division winner in a three game series vs. playing the Yankees). Right now, they're still going to try and figure out what they have in the bullpen other than Pressly. Raley has been serviceable and has likely moved ahead of Taylor as the top lefty in the pen. Paredes has a lot of stuff/talent to be part of the bridge... but he's very young and its especially asking a lot of him to come in mid-inning and strike out everybody with inherited RISP. Scrubb has turned into Will Harris-very lite. Then you have Urquidy/Peacock coming back. Its doubtful that Sneed/Devo/Bielak make the post-season roster. And then you have the ultimate wild card in JV that may be back as a bullpen pitcher vs. a starter.
Of notable veterans who aren't too old, Cody Allen, former Indians closer, is available. Why noy? Can't get any worse, get some experience in the pen. Maybe Strom can breathe life back into his career.
Tough losses recently but baseball is a grueling sport. We are still in the thick of the postseason hunt where anything can happen. Let's go!
Astros bullpen: First 23 games: 3.42 ERA in 94 2/3 innings Last 16 games: 6.31 ERA in 55 2/3 innings Astros relievers now rank 11th of 15 teams in AL with 4.49 ERA and 13th in batting average against (.252). The regular season ends three weeks from today. Astros pitching staff ERA: At home: 3.09 starters/3.09 bullpen On road: 6.30 starters/5.91 bullpen Dusty: “We’re going to ride Framber as long as we can. It’s a big day for our staff, big day for Framber, big day in the standings prior to us going to Oakland. This is a huge day today.”
It's the rule everywhere. Any ball that bounces off of anything above the yellow HR line, whether it stays in the stands or returns to the field, is a rulebook double (the exception is the foul poles, since they're in play). All runners on base are awarded 2 bases.
At this point, just let Framber go 9 lol. Whether he gives up 1 run or 12. Better than watching our bullpen.
I will say that if the Stros and Rox screw up my fajita dinner I will be muy disappointado. I also had 2 crazyass dreams last night that I am blaming on the Astros bullpen.
