That's a solid article...very interesting where Strauss took it, although I wish he spent just as much time on every one of the potential sources of problems as he did politics...but, then, that probably wouldn't generate as many clicks (not saying it's clickbait, it most definitely isn't, but he focuses on one issue, yet brings up some 500 lb Gorillas also in the room). The last four paragraphs prior to the last paragraph probably have more impact on things than the branding and messaging and have been something that has been building for awhile now. Then again, it's also hard to compare the NBA to other sports leagues since the NBA is so star-driven to a point that no other team sport even comes close. The problem is, when the talent starts to dry up, or your next group of stars isn't dominating, things tend to wane popularity-wise. Look at things post-1998 after Jordan retired up until about 2004 when Lebron came into the league...ratings were pretty flat and well under the peak of the Jordan finals. Last year was the first time Lebron didn't make the finals since the 2011 season...in his place was a Toronto team that won it all and whose biggest markets don't register on American rating scales...and also lost it's biggest star to the #2 team in LA in the offseason. Throw in a Golden State team, which was the 500 lb Gorilla that had made the Finals for 5 straight years suffered a ton of injuries and suddenly, casual folks had to learn other team names, other player names, etc. The funny thing is that if Lebron gets the Lakers to the finals and they play the Celtics, ratings will be much higher than last season, and everyone will talk about how things are fine...yet, none of the underlying problems will have been fixed. Lebron's and the Lakers'/Celtics' will drive most of the interest...not the NBA itself. But, getting back to politics, I have a hard time believing players speaking up is causing that much of an issue...Lebron was extremely outspoken in 2016, yet NBA ratings were completely fine that year.
Why would lebron give a crap about HK? I lost a lot of respect for him over it, like many others i’m sure, but there’s no reason for him to actually care about those people.
I pledge allegiance to the people of the United States of America And not the flag for which they stand One Nation Under Gods Indivisible For Liberty and Justice for ALL Not just white "Christians"
But...see...the narrative is that folks are flocking away from the NBA because of their political stance? Stop putting facts out there that dispute that.
hol up...I know the NBA didn’t just post great ratings after “alienating” people, and I know it wasn’t a boring, unwatchable Harden and the Rockets game that did it too I thought people were tired of the NBA and social justice messaging? Another L for Trump and his pack of loser supporters.
It's not me saying that bro, you will know the demographic breakdowns after the elections. I always thought that the percentage would even be higher. Who knows, I could be right after the elections. As of right now, Biden gets 75% of the black votes and Mr Trump gets 20%.
Are you considering me one of them or are you still looking for evidence that I somehow passed myself off as black? That was weeks ago that you said you had all this evidence. Yet... CRICKETS
Apoligies, I had forgotten about you completely. I had to go under the basement with some studio musicians to complete the demo of a few songs we just wrote. Your clue should be professor Jessica Krug, start from there and I will dig up the rest of your posts if I have time.
Trump's "silent" voters are silently hate watching in the Dutch ovens while eating their cans of Goya beans
So is the NBA losing ratings? This article says it has: https://www.outkick.com/nba-ratings-down-mark-cuban/ The Ben DuBose tweet and that article could be true at the same time, no? And this a poll about the reasons why: https://theharrispoll.com/poll-38-o...o-political-as-reason-they-are-watching-less/ If the NBA and its players are willing to sacrifice viewers to push their message, wouldn't that make their effort more meaningful?
