Don't they have a defect that causes it to lose function and do weird stuff... gel or something?

Yeah for awhile it's been acting up it would just randomly start scrolling at 1st and then it would only respond to touch when I st started the car and now it switches from bluetooth to FM but thats only after I get of work it does not do it in the morning.

I know you can replace the whole stack.

This is interesting dude started this business because of this terrible design flaw and GM refusing to fix the issue [$1800].

    Why is this happening?

GM Engineers chose to use a Gel substance to bond the touch glass to the outer plastic on the touch screen.

Sadly, this gel dries out after a couple years and gets hard or evaporates.

With the gel hardened or missing, touches are no longer registered by the system. Sometimes, there is a cracked appearance and random or erratic touch response.

Ok this makes sense and it's probably why it is switching because of the hot car and the gel.

    Will try the replacement 1st.

    Thanks.

This is a rare 80s car I really want -- it has much better tech than the V8s (brakes, suspension, etc) -- the engine however requires a modern refresh because they blew up like grenades (svo turbo).

An SVO? I recall when these came out. I wasn't liking the style. Not sure I do now, but they're certainly a head-turner to any enthusiast. Gotta say the initial inlet headlights are more noticeable.

The SVOs from the mid 80s can be updated to awesome looking classics with impressive performance... and they're pretty cheap.

with a modern FI system and turbo/intercooler they match the current ecoboosts in power but the car weighs 1000 pounds less.

I never heard any rep for them blowing up. They are old school 2.3 L engines

Supra is lighter and has the shorter wheel base for more driftu action if you like that stuff. Mustang 5.0 is probably faster in a straight line and also comes in a manual option.

Tough choice. It would be easy for me if the Supra came in manual honestly.

I'll be in the market for a new vehicle in the next 6-12 months. I'd like a SUV or truck, 3 rows of seating if it is an SUV and 4 doors if it is a truck. Doesn't have to be new/top of the line either. I definitely want to stay away from GM vehicles though. I know that leaves a large selection but what are some of your opinions in those areas?

I bought an XLT F150 that I'm happy with (2.7L Ecoboost).

For 3 row SUV's, I really like the Kia Telluride.

They had a poor reputation when they started, but they've really increased their production quality. Check out the reviews of the telluride, most people really love it. It hasn't been out very long, so can't speak to longevity of it, but at least initial quality seems good. It also does some pretty cool things (like a camera showing you your blind spot when you turn on your blinker).

That and the Hyundai Palisade will be our first test drives when we move up to a 3rd row (we're currently in a Subaru outback, but tight fit with 3 kids...still going to wait awhile though).

Kia has definitely improved their quality over the last decade. The Telluride is one of the best-in-class and is hard to find. I'm in the market for a small SUV, so a 3-row is too big. The Korean brands have a lot of advanced tech compared to the rest of the manufacturers.

With that said, I'm trying to get a RAV4 Prime.

Somebody got a new Mustang at work and it suddenly dawned on me how much they look like the latest Aston Martin and I think the Mustang does it better.
