Even though I have nothing to hide, I don't want people seeing my tax returns. Trump could have avoided some of this by simply saying he was never going to release his tax returns. Clearly there is a difference if there is a legal issue, but he should have said just because Presidents over the past few decades released theirs, doesn't mean he will release his.
I presume though you're not planning for public office. I understand privacy but the an office like President is very much an office of public trust also this isn't a case of just public trust but a subpoena.
Did you read the part of my post where I said “clearly there is a difference if there is a legal issue”? Trump never had any intention of releasing his tax returns for ‘public trust’ purposes. He should have just said that from the beginning.
