there seems to be something of a flurry of commentary on the "problem" of the protests for Democrats. This one is interesting also: https://hotair.com/archives/john-s-2/2020/08/28/bulwark-democrats-need-convince-voters-really-riots/ excerpt: He’s absolutely right that the rioters have been sheltered by Democratic mayors and the media. Why? Tracinski doesn’t really say. He does say that every political party attracts a fringe element, which is true. But why are so many mayors and media outlets eager to back or at least downplay the left’s fringe when it is rioting in the streets? I think the answer to that question helps explain why Democrats are so nervous right now. Here’s my answer: BLM isn’t fringe anymore it’s the biggest source of energy for the Democratic party at this moment. So they can’t afford to alienate BLM. At the same time, BLM’s politics remain deeply fringe. Disbanding the police. Reparations. Identity politics. White fragility. These are not things that every one is on board with but they are inseparable from BLM. And those things are really just scratching the surface of how deeply fringe some of this stuff is. more at the link
As i said in the Minneapolis thread the looting is a gift to the Trump campaign, especially what happened here on Wednesday night. Given that almost the same time Nicollet Ave was being looted that RNC speakers were talking about the dangers of inner city violence. While it helps Trump I'm not absolutely sure it hurts Biden. By that I mean that people who already felt uneasy about things riots in the cities were probably leaning Trump already and so this likely pushes them over to Trump. On the other hand I don't think a lot of people supporting Biden are going to jump to Trump because of this. One because Biden actually has spoken out against the riots and protests and two because Trump has already polarized a lot of people. Like many issues I think this issue is one that strengthens the base and could be a factor in a turnout race but not really swing voters.
Joe "Fracking" Biden announces he is not against fracking: https://thehill.com/policy/energy-environment/514450-biden-i-am-not-banning-fracking
I appreciate that the dems are open minded enough to change course and recognize that the violence is out of hand. Hopefully biden voters listen to his new opposition to rioting. Nice implication joe
Poor guy has lost it between the ears. Since Trump forced him out of his basement, Biden's cognitive decline will unfortunately be out there in the open. You hate to see it.
LOL, Trump sounds like the one who has lost it. Not that he ever had much intelligence to begin with. Watching him read (or try to) his teleprompter is painful to hear. Monotone robot that sounds like it's low on batteries.
Not changing course at all. I can go back to the beginning and provide statements from Democrats denouncing the violence, looting, etc.
I certainly hope not. The violence level increased under Trump. Why would anyone think it would go down if he was re-elected?
Lol so a 12 second clip that doesn’t even allow the viewer to see his full thought is evidence of cognitive decline? I can’t wait to collect money from folks when we have the debates. You, @Commodore and @Wattafan : convince me you aren’t employed by the Biden campaign to share hilariously bad “pro-trump” ads to make conservatives look even less appealing to swing voters. I’ve yet to see any valid insight into how Biden is any less cognitive than Trump. Short clips and boomer memes are all you’ve got
