On trade deadline, Click said: "The last thing we wanted to do was do something rash just to do something. There’s a value in adding to this team but part of that benefit is having Devenski, Peacock, Bregman, James, Verlander ... hopefully be additions."

James Click said his conversations today were "60-40" about pitching, but said "we weren't going to make a deal just to make a deal."

"We think we're in prime position to compete for a World Series going forward," Click said.

James Click said his pitchers on the injured list (Urquidy, Devenski, Peacock) are closer to returning than the position players. Click reiterated that Justin Verlander is throwing, but said he is not throwing off of a mound yet.

More Click: “Ultimately, at the end of the day, we weren’t able to lineup anything but I think that speaks to the bar of entry, the level of talent we have on the team right now. We weren’t going to make a move just to make a move.”

I think we should claim Domingo Santana.
He can suffice in COF and DH

You know what, I thought so too, but Stripling isn’t having a good year. He’s also already on the wrong side of 30, which surprised me. I don’t think he moves the needle as much as I originally assumed. Good trade for them, but I don’t know if he makes them a lot better. Better, yes, but maybe not a lot better. He’s a great turnaround candidate though.

I'm no doctor, but Verlander not throwing off a mound doesn't sound promising. Sounds like we're on our own to make the playoffs. And even then, I'm concerned about him pitching in big games after so long. He's a veteran sure, but would be nice to get him some less pressure packed games.

He was in addition to Ray and Walker. They got 3 solid starters with upside/success in this league for very cheap. Plus hell be a good veteran presence in a pretty young clubhouse.

Only disappointment is Biagini was not unloaded for cash.

This season's World Series Champion is going to be who stays the healthiest.

I wish they would have gotten another catcher. If Maldonado gets hurt they're in trouble.

I'm disappointed he has a job at all. We could have unloaded him for Mountain Dew and I'd be happy lol.

The Astros would have had to kick in cash to get a team to take him.

Yeah, I was just talking about Stripling specifically. Good moves for sure. They’re going for it!

Always liked him. Hard-throwing lefty reliever with a nice-spinning fastball. Has stuff, and he's had some good stretches but never consistent. Since he was cut loose he'd make a good experimental reclamation project.
