Yea and are still looking for Pitchers and a Bat. Crazy. Butbits good news for everyone Braves, White Sox and Blue Jays still looking for a Sp and might over trade to gain one.
Man the padres just traded for Clevinger. They're going freaking crazy. Must be fun to be a Padres fan.
Great. More political crap in the sports threads. Take this garbage to the D@D . I want to read about the Astros in the Astros sub forum.
The PaDres fan base is going nuts at the moment they still have there top 5 prospects for the future .
I hope they cut Fiers.... Also good for the Astros if the Rangers sell off. We still have 10 games with them.
On Clevinger, he's 29, his fastball and slider aren't moving right now, and a team with good pitching coaches moved him. This has the potential to be very bad for the Padres if they can't get Clevinger pitching well again. I don't trust a team with good pitching coaches when they try to trade a pitcher.
There's been articles with "rival execs" stating Springer could be traded and etc. Nothing concrete but just rumors. But i will say this... Springer doesn't look happy at all and even in his body language. We obviously know with the cheating scandal and the pandemic going on, he doesn't seem like himself. We can say the same about Altuve but his situation is totally different. Either way, 2021's will look different. Doesn't mean they won't be a contender though...
Was going to comment earlier but there's a lot of trash going on in this thread. Let's get back to trade talk...
I usually do not like taking the quantity over quality route, however not in this case for one reason. The Indians are exceptional at pitching identification and development. I tend to trust them quite a bit.
Clevinger has NEVER been popular with his teammates and has issues that the Indians have decided that are not worth dealing with. Also, I don't think many teams were buying that he is a real ace. He is more of a 2-3 pitcher and he is struggling some. The Padres got a quality arm under their control for a few seasons but they did pay a price. Some of those players the Padres dealt will pan out and they have upside as well. For example, Cal Quantrill has to make a few adjustments, but he has high upside as a middle of the order starter or a high end reliever and he is under control for the next 5+ years.
Yeah, I wouldn't be too happy about this deal if I were a Cleveland fan. Seems like the Indians were okay with their other SP options and wanted to shed a little bit of cost in return for spare parts.
